BACKGROUND
INERANGAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Barangay Inerangan is a coastal barangay with mild to moderate susceptibility to FLOODING. Normally, flooding in the barangay are predictable and in some lower
area like in front of Inerangan Elementary School, usually by heavy rains accompanying tropical storms or intensified southwest monsoon during rainy season
indicating the abnormal rise and strong current of the BOGTONG RIVER periodically observe during rainy months of May to October.

History of Barangay _INERANGAN__

During the Spanish Regime, a certain visitor from the town of Bolinao Pangasinan visited his girlfriend form Inerangan Pangasinan. When the visitor was about to
reach the house of his girlfriend, some residents saw him and blocked his way. As soon as he saw the people, he was terrified and went home immediately
shouting the words “ INANG, HINARANG DAK!” since then, they called the place Inerangan and became the permanent name of the Barangay.

River System of Alaminos City

Northwest of the municipality is the Alaminos City/Tagoong river which is approximately 10 kilometers from the Embarcadero bridge down to Tambac
Bay/Lingayen Gulf. And from Tambac Bay/Lingayen Gulf it enters the municipality thru the boundaries of barangays Mona and Pangapisan-Polo, Cayucay-Polo,
Poblacion and San Jose-Pogo and ends up at the western part of Poblacion at sitios Sadsaran and Dampay. There is another river that serves as the tributary of
the Tagoong river, the Polo river which is connected to the Tagoong river at Nansangan and passes through the boundaries of barangays Polo, San Jose, Polo
and San Miguel, Bani and ends up in Tambac Bay/Lingayen Gulf. These rivers, creeks and swamps have an estimated area of 613.766 hectares of 3.703 of the
total area of the municipality. These rivers are the gateway of fishermen/boatmen from San Jose, Polo, Inerangan, Mona and Pangapisan in going to the
sea(Tambac Bay) and in transporting their goods from said barangays when roads becomes unpassable during rainy days.

These river serves as source of fresh water for irrigation for agricultural lands as well as an alternative transport access, using both non-motorize and motorize
boats as means of transportation, particularly from Poblacion heading out downstream towards Barangay San Jose that futher exits to the mouth of Tambac Bay
via Barangay Mona or Barangay Pangapisan.

III.HAZARD:
TYPHOON

 Barangay Inerangan is one of the Typhoon prone barangays in the City of Alaminos, as well as flooding in some areas near the river . Perhaps, this
is due to the fact that it is situated between two tributaries of the Alaminos River, the Tagoong River which pass on the east through barangays San
Jose, Polo, Mona and Pangapisan and on the west, the Inerangan River which pass through San Jose, Polo, Inerangan and Pangapisan. This
situation is aggravated by so many fishponds along the riverbanks especially on its west and eastern side. Of course, when flood comes, crops,
animals and other valuable property in this area are greatly affected if not totally lost.
 Tropical Cyclone forecast from June to October 2017 predicts about 16 typhoons to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Therefore,
the priority hazards for Inerangan National high School are Tropical Cyclone and Flood
