The author expresses gratitude for the city's CCTV system while acknowledging some issues. While crime has decreased and people feel more relaxed, privacy has been reduced and isolated areas pay expenses when cameras are removed. However, the author argues that trading privacy and expenses is worthwhile for increased safety, and that fewer CCTVs would hurt citizens by making the city less safe and more costly to repair damage.

Subject: The CCTV discussion Dear editors, Thanks for inviting us, the loyal readers, to share our opinion about the current state of CCTVs in our city. Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to the city hall, all the private firms and the citizens which made this project possible. Although there are some glaring issues, I want to start with the positives. The crime-rate has decreased by a large margin, and the effects are seen by the day. People are more relaxed than ever and the general atmosphere is one of a kind. Sadly, I can continue with only issues. The privacy is nonexistent. Many people, including me, are disturbed by this, but we got used to it. Let’s not forget about the expenses on the citizens, especially when a CCTV is taken down on a isolated street. Secondly, although it may seem that I am dissatisfied, that is not the case. I would trade the privacy and the expenses for a safer city everyday of the week. Personally, I think that wishing for fewer CCTVs is not in the best interest for the normal Joe. It will be less safe, and the damages that will be done to the city will be taken right from our pockets. I hope my letter gave you a better insight in the city’s problem, from a different perspective. I cannot wait to read your next magazine! Sincerely, Andrei
