TCAS version 7.

Operational Description
TCAS change 7.1 enhances TCAS 7.0. This change introduces the new visual and aural Resolution
Advisory (RA) “LEVEL OFF, LEVEL OFF” instead of “ADJUST VERTICAL SPEED, ADJUST”.
All other RA alerts remain the same. This change ensures a better understanding of the aural alert,
and as a result, a better understanding of the required action that needs to be applied.

TCAS v7.0 TCAS v7.1

No reversal of an RA if two aircraft converging in Improved reversal logic recognizes situations when
altitude remain within 100 feet and two converging aircraft:
- One aircraft is not responding to RA; or - Remain within 100 feet
- One aircraft is not equipped and follows - One aircraft is not responding to the RA or is not
equipped
Crew to always follow the RA

“ADJUST VERTICAL SPEED, ADJUST”: “LEVEL OFF LEVEL OFF” introduced in v7.1 replaces
- Resulting in ALT level bust (in situations where “ADJUST VERTICAL SPEED, ADJUST”
otherwise there would not have been a level bust) - Crew to reduce Vertical rate to 0 ft/min
- Reason for RAs on other aircraft - The LEVEL OFF is to be achieved promptly, not at
- Unintentional opposite crew response to “adjust the next flight level
vertical speed, adjust” as the RA does not clearly
indicate the exact manoeuvre required
(Climb/Descent/Level off).
