My intent in creating the Turing Frog bicycle mount, as an un-official participant in the

GrabCAD, Bike Accessory Challenge, was to create a mechanism which satisfies the 3 rd goal in the
competition: “Make it more fun to ride.” In my design process I first found an idea and then gathered the
dimensions of the bike that would be required for my design. With these dimensions I started a rough
draft of the mechanism responsible for mounting the model to the bike in Autodesk Inventor. Off this
bike mount I created the mechanism which will later turn a frog, which transfers rotation around the x-
axis into rotation around the y-axis. I see how this could be overcomplicated, but I was in favor of the
vertical switch over a horizontal one. Using this rotation, I had a horizontal plain which could be rotated
~45* by a vertical switch. After this was completed, I designed a Frog Centered around the Revolve
command. The Revolve command was crucial for creating this Frog because Inventor is intended for
ridged structures, while the Frog has an organic shape. The Revolve command enabled this Frog because
it allowed the creation of Spheres, and less cubic shapes. This combined with the Filet command allowed
me to create a semi-organic Frog in Inventor. After I completed the Frog, I finished the Turning Frog
assembly.
