WEEK 5 - HANDS-ON 1 - VCD2107 Aperture Intimacy Vs Isolation
WEEK 5 - HANDS-ON 1 - VCD2107 Aperture Intimacy Vs Isolation
TASK
• We can create an image with a great depth of field (by using a small
aperture), or a shallow depth of field (by using a large aperture). The two
different images will have very different visual qualities. So, this assignment
is about exploring the expressive qualities of these camera controls.
• For this classwork you will first use Aperture Priority Mode. If you feel
comfortable you may switch using Manual Mode.
2. Great depth of field (large f/stop): Use great or deep depth of field as
a way to create a feeling of isolation or loneliness.
• Consider placing your subject near and far in space. You may also try using
great DoF to create intimacy and short DoF to create isolation. You may try to
change the focal length.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• Submission date: TODAY. After completing the task come back to class.
• Shoot at least 8 images that explore the creative use of aperture.
• Bring the best 2 images (1 Intimacy / 1 Isolation) to class.
• We will have a feedback session.
