Step 1 Record existing Drive Parameters if possible.

Typical Drive Settings below:

Motor ID will depend on Motor used – in most cases for

the MXGC it is the PMS420 but in the parameter you will
see +04***

Step 2 Record TR/Zero Position Parameter This is the encoder zero

position and is required for
the new drive to function
correctly

Step 3 Record Phase Direction

Car travels up Sheave rotates clockwise

Phase Dir = 1 for PMS230 and early PMS420

machines.
Phase Dir = 3 for latter PMS420 machines.

Sheave rotates
Car travels up
counterclockwise

Phase Dir = 0 for PMS230 and early PMS420

machines.
Phase Dir = 2 for latter PMS420 machines.

Step 4 Lock and Tag out – remove old Drive and Fit new Drive Wait 5 mins to ensure DC
Link has bled off.

Double check your plug

connections are correct
after fitting the new drive
Step 5 Parameters are being sent to
Switch Recall (Inspection) to Recall. the drive.

Turn on Main Switch (JH) and carry out a double reset

as per below:

Step 6 Check parameters as recorded from Step 1,2,3, once
system has booted up.

Drive – Settings -ID Motor should not be a negative

number – recheck your recorded setting if it is.

TR (ZeroPos) enter as recorded (if not available then

proceed to Zero Position Test)
Step 7 Switch JMOF switch to install – and carry out single SMLCD should indicate
reset. “INSTALL”

Step 8 SMLCD carry out DC Link Test – Login – Tests -VF Tests
DC Link Test – OK: Wait until the following message is
displayed DC Link test Success.

Note: you need to have your safety line intact for the
above test to work.
Step 9 With Car on RECALL and JMOF on drive car down first
then up to verify the car travels in the correct
direction – if it doesn’t or bails out check you Phase
Direction Parameter – see step 3
Step 10 Measuring Travel: The car will travel to the
bottom floor conducting the
• Position the car in the door zone at the measuring travel.
uppermost floor. Check that the LED LUET on
the user interface is on. Once the car has releveled at
the bottom floor the
• Goto Commands – Special Trips - JLF -OK measuring travel is
complete.
• Set JMOF to position 0.

• Set JRH (recall) to Normal.

Step 11 Save Parameters: Save the drive parameters in

the Flash EPROM on GCIOB
Goto Commands – Drv End Commission – OK. 360 PCB.

The SMLCD will display Drv End Commis Success.

Step 12 Run the car to each floor and check the leveling
accuracy and overshoot.

• Travel Control – Regulation – P-Ampli Decel:

Adj to around 15 (default is 7) this will stop
the overshoot of the lift coming into the floor.

• Adjust “TractnDiameter” and “Tacho Factor”

to allow for a direct floor approach – no creep
into the floor.

To adjust floor leveling carry out the procedure below. You can adjust each floor
level separately:
1. Login – Commands-Adj Floor Level -OK.
2. Select floor to be adjusted using the UP/DN
keys.
3. Press the OK key to confirm the selection of
the floor.
4. Using the UP/DN key select + or – depending
on if you want the level to be higher (+) or
lower (-) and press the OK key.
5. Enter the value in mm and press the OK key.

For instance, if the car stops 12mm too low make the
adjustment as per below.

Remember to carry out a “Drv End Commis” after

making any changes to parameters or floor levels
above – see step 11

Step 13 Test lift and ensure all works correctly , remove signs
replace covers etc. and return unit to Service.

Extra Tips:

• When diagnosing a faulty drive carry out VF tests – in 90% of cases it just could be the 24VDC
power supply in the drive that has failed.
• In some cases, you may find the MX-GC software is too old for the new drive – things don’t go to
plan, contact your local Field Engineer for further advice and support.

Addendum Carrying out a Zero Position Test

Step 1 Login into the SMLCD (ABCD) and select

“ZeroPostionTest” then press OK.

The display will indicate ZeroPostionTest -OK?

Press the OK key.

Step 2 When the display “Begin test” indicates continue with SMLCD Display indicates :
the next step.
“Begin Test”

Step 3 Press the up or dn inspection button on the ASIXA

board and do not release until the car stops.

When the car stops release the button immediately.

Step 4 Wait – 5 seconds.

Step 5 Repeat steps 3-5 until the SMLCD indicates the Can take up to 2-25 travels
following: for it to finds the Zero
Position.
“ZeroPostionTest Success”
Note: Similar test we do on
the Gen2 R1 Drives except
that it is Automatic.
Step 6 Save Parameters: Save the drive parameters in
the Flash EPROM on GCIOB
Goto Commands – Drv End Commission – OK. 360 PCB.

The SMLCD will display Drv End Commis Success.
