BRAIN TUMORS

-A brain tumor is a growth of cells in the brain or near it. Brain tumors can happen in the brain tissue.
Brain tumors also can happen near the brain tissue. Nearby locations include nerves, the pituitary gland,
the pineal gland, and the membranes that cover the surface of the brain.

Doctors don't know why some cells begin to form into tumor cells. It may have something to do with a
person's genes or his or her environment, or both. Some potential brain tumor causes and risk factors may
include Cancers that spread from other parts of the body.

Every patient's pain experience is unique, but headaches associated with brain tumors tend to be constant
and are worse at night or in the early morning. They are often described as dull, "pressure-type"
headaches, though some patients also experience sharp or "stabbing" pain.

-ATAXIA

Ataxia means without coordination. People with ataxia lose muscle control in their arms and legs. This
may lead to a lack of balance, coordination, and trouble walking. Ataxia may affect the fingers, hands,
arms, legs, body, speech, and even eye movements.

Ataxia usually results from damage to the part of the brain that controls muscle coordination
(cerebellum) or its connections. Many conditions can cause ataxia, including alcohol misuse, stroke,
tumor, brain degeneration, multiple sclerosis, certain medications and genetic disorders.
