The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health

Did you know that 70% of people feel stressed about their continued use of social media?

Well, this is true because every person who has a mobile phone uses social media. Social media brings
about a great change in our lives. Social media has made our lives easier and more convenient. It has a
great impact on our lives, whether it is good or bad.

The good effects of social media are, that we use it for shopping, earning, billing payments, etc.

Now we are approximately aware of everything that is happening around us.

It also has some negative impacts, and the main impact of social media is “mental health".

The continuous use of social media makes us addicted to it, and we continuously use social media to
relax, it is just a waste of time.

If we say that social media is a “prison” that has no “walls” and "bars,”

Ways to attract people:

Some third-party apps add like, comment, share, and follow features in their apps to attract the
audience.

Some apps use filters, stories, and streaks features to attract the audience.

Social media directly affects our brains, when we wake up in the morning we use the phone and then we
do any other work. Many people use social media to be praised by others.

When individuals upload a video or photos on these apps. Other users like these posts and the individual
gets the notification and he will again open this app and check those notifications. It is a trap for us and
we fall into it unwittingly and cannot get out of it.

On social media we cannot see what we want, we just see what the people who are controlling it want
to show us. When we search for anything on social media apps and when we again go to that app this
app shows us related posts that we searched.

Excessive use of social media releases a chemical in our body or brain called “Adopamine” which is very
harmful to our health when we quit those sites, after some time our brains again need that chemical and
force us to use this again. If we say that “Adopamine” is more harmful than “Cocaine” unfortunately this
is true. So, think about how much social media harms us.

Types:

The use of social media causes self-esteem issues in humans. Self-esteem means comparing oneself to
others. There are some types of self-esteem.

others.

Depression is also caused by social media. Nowadays depression is the second most dangerous disease.
Most of the persons get depression due to many reasons, social media plays a big part in depression.

If social media has such bad effects on our lives.

So, tell me where we are going.

Now tell me where our young generation is going.

Will they be able to succeed in their life?

Do their parents and their nation expect them to use social media and waste their precious time?
