Excel: Descriptive Statistics (Chap 3)


Objective:

To tabulate descriptive statistic analysis (pg.63)

Dataset used: Applewood Data

Task 1: Descriptive statistics analysis

1. From the menu bar, select Data, and then Data Analysis.
2. Note: If Data Analysis tool is not found, then you have to install the Analysis Tool Pak add-
ins.
3. Click on Data Analysis, then select, Descriptive Statistics.
4. In the Descriptive Statistics field, in the Input range, click on the Profit. (To get descriptive
stats for profit).
5. Then click Columns and tick the Labels in First Row (to indicate that the variable name is in
the first row).
6. Under the Output options, click Summary Statistics.

7. You get the following output.
