    1. Describe ―with an example― how a mental set affects problem-solving. [5 marks]

    2. Give an example for general intelligence (g factor). Discuss the evidence for
    general intelligence. [5 marks]

    3. Describe (at least) three types of (Freudian) defense mechanisms? Why do defense
    mechanisms occur? [6 marks]

    4. Person “X” has a notion from childhood that if (s)he owns a house and a car, (s)he
    will be happy ever after. Will (s)he be happy forever because of buying a house or a
    car? Why or why not? Substantiate your answer by describing the psychological
    phenomenon involved. [7 marks]

    5. Do the specific bodily or behavioral changes accompanied by particular emotional


    episodes serve any function for humans? If not, why not? If yes, how? Substantiate
    your answer with the examples of at least three (types of) emotions. [7 marks]
