I. Course Description :
Language testing course deals with the background theories and principles of
assessment in English language teaching, including the procedures of test
construction.

II. Course Objective(s) :


Pragmatics course will provide students with experiences, insight, knowledge on the
study on concepts of assessment in ELT, approaches, functions and types of
language assessment instruments, and elementary statistics related to language
assessment. More emphasis is placed on analyzing English test as a measurement
instrument covering criteria of a good test, scoring, and interpreting results of a test.

III. Standard Competence(s) :


By the end of the course, students are able to
- have experiences, insight, knowledge on the study on concepts of assessment
in ELT
- be aware of approaches, functions and types of language assessment
instruments
- utilize elementary statistics related to language assessment
- create tests as a measurement instrument covering criteria of a good test,
scoring, and interpreting results of tests
