labour and machinery cost increases annually due to inflation. Inflation plays a vital role in the
price increase of materials, labours, and machinery, which results in deviating the initial and the
final cost of the project.
a. Discuss the relationship between inflation and the performance of the construction
industry which has an impact on economic growth.
b. Conduct an interview with at least THREE (3) construction cost estimators or quantity
surveyors regarding the actions that will be taken when material costs fluctuate while a
construction project is ongoing.
