Root:

Root is developed from radile of seed, angiospermic plants posses seed within their fruits, root
is the important vegetative part of plant, usually involves in several functions. For example:

i. It provides support and rigidity to the plants.

ii. Due to roots, absorphic area of plants becomes increased, as it increases the
absorption of water, minerals and ions for plants.
iii. Roots posses conductive tissues which are involved ascent of sap mechanism.

Stem:

Stem is developed from plumle of seed, it is another important vegetative part of plant which
posses primary and secondary growth tissues, due to stem plants remains standing positions, it
also takes part in the development of leaves from nodal region, stem also contain conductory
tissues by the help of which nutrients, water, salts and ions and minerals are transported.

Leaves:

Leaves are the greenish part of the plants, develops from nodes of stem, mainly takes part in
the photosynthesis activity, it is the most important part of angiospermic plants.

Flower:

Flower is the reproductive part of angiospermic plants mostly beautiful in nature, it is

composed of four different whorls:

i. Calyx ii. Corolla iii. Androecium iv. Gynoecium

i. Calyx:
It is the outermost whorl of flower which is mainly composed of sepals, in angiospermic
plants there are 5 – 6 sepals collectedly known as sepals.

Function:

They protect the inner part of the flower.

ii. Corolla:
It is the second whorl of flower mainly chlorophyll (yellowish) is attractive in nature for
flies and insects and is composed of 4 – 5 petals.
Function:
Corolla takes part in the pollination process in which insects and flies are attracted for the
transfer of pollen grain.
iii. Androecium:
Androecium is the male reproductive part of angiospermic flower, which is usually
composed of 5 – 6 stamens each stamen has two parts upper part is known as anther which
contains the pollen grain tubule the long cylinder part is known as filament.
Function: It takes part in the function and depends of the male reproductive cells with the
pollen grain.
Gynoecium:
It is the fourth whorl of flower and it considered as the female reproductive part of the
plant, it is composed of 1 – 2 carpels while each carpel has three parts the uppermost is
known as stigma, after that the curve shaped style is present which ends up in the lower
inner most part the ovary.
Function:
Gynoecium takes part in the formation of female gamete ovum within the ovary for
fertilization with male gamete it also act as protection covery for developing embryo (seed).
