their relevant causal factors. The pattern deduced through the abstract is that most of the
marriages took place between close relative from 1960s to 1980s that is the trend of intra cast
marriages was popular during this duration. The abstract further briefs about the increase in the
trend of intercast marriages was after the 1990s, reasoning factors being education and
economic. (kiyani, 2015)

NEWSpakistan
In this newspaper article the writer expresses his views regarding the caste tradition of pakistan
terming it as “the killing tradition”. The reasons behind his disapproval of this concept is that it
results as a hurdle in social, ethical and mental progress. For him marriages and love affair are
natural concepts and should not be categorized. He very much favors the quotation of Prophet
(pbuh) that caste systems are just for identification other than that every human being is equal.
Thus, he strongly condemns intra-caste marriages. (ntercaste marriages: Still a taboo in Pakistani
society)

The news minute
The writer of this newspaper article expresses his views on “more inter caste marriages happen
when grooms mother is educated”. To his fact finding he says that an increase in the groom’s
mother’s education by 10 years increases the probability of an inter-caste marriage by 1.86%. He
argues that inter-caste marriage is more likely to happen as educated mother overcomes this
constraint of intra caste marriages and implement the best outcome for her son, empowered by
her increased bargaining and decision making authority in the family. (more inter caste marriages
when groom mother is educated )
 Abida mian
The abstract is an answer to “My parents are not agreeing to my inter caste marriage, what can I
do?” on an online question answer site. The writer outlines the reason of the disapproval of
parents to inter caste marriage being the fear of how intercaste marriage will appear to their
community of family & friends as maintaining culture, tradition and caste is sacred to many. (my
paresnts are not agreeing to my intercaste marriage. what can i do?)
