MAJOR CRIMES: TERRORISM MURDER/ASSASSINATION/RAPE /DRUG DEALING

The whole world is being affected by different types of crimes, among which we can
distinguish between major and minor ones

The subject of crime frequently appears in movies, TV series, novels, both classical and
contemporary. One of the most popular TV series about crime today is “Criminal Minds” In
every episode a crime is committed and investigated. There are typical cases of rape in which
they not only show how the victim is attacked by the rapist but also how social workers,
doctors and police investigators prolong this atrocious crime in the victim’s life by making her
go through endless interrogations in which she relives the rape over and over again.
Fighting crime involves a lot of people such as defence lawyers and prosecutors, a jury at court
and a jude to pass a sentence based on the verdict reached by the members of the jury.
Whether a suspect is acquitted or convicted will depend on the efficiency of the lawyers’ work,
the witnesses and the evidence that can be collected at the scene of the crime.

The sentences which are passed will depend on the seriousness of the crime and they range
from a fine, which is for minor cases, to life imprisonment, for all those crimes which are really
serious. Also community work, probation and bail can be applied.
