WHAT IS THE SOGIE BILL?
• THE SOGIE (SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY AND EXPRESSION) BILL IS A SERIES OF BILLS IN
THE PHILIPPINES THAT AIM TO PREVENT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST INDIVIDUALS BASED ON THEIR
SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, OR EXPRESSION. IT WAS FIRST INTRODUCED IN THE 14TH
CONGRESS AND HAS BEEN REFILED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN. THE BILL SEEKS TO PROTECT THE
RIGHTS OF THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY AND ENSURE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND TREATMENT FOR ALL
INDIVIDUALS, REGARDLESS OF THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER IDENTITY.

• ECONOMIC ZONE IS AN AREA WHERE THE BUSINESS AND TRADE LAWS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST, RESULTING IN AN INCREASED TRADE BALANCE, MORE EMPLOYERS,
