“Without education, it is complete darkness and with education it is light. Education is

a matter of life and death to our nation. The world is moving so fast that if you do not
educate yourselves you will be not only completely left behind, but will be finished
up. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) had enjoined his followers to go even to China in the
pursuit of knowledge. If that was the commandment in those days when
communications were difficult, then, truly, Muslims as the true followers of the
glorious heritage of Islam, should surely utilize all available opportunities. No
sacrifice of time or personal comfort should be regarded too great for the
advancement of the cause of education.”
Quaid e Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLANNER WRITING

IE&T Deptt, Welfare Division Education has developed Teacher’s Planner to assist faculty in
effective planning and keeping their instructional/class records organized. The teachers are
directed to read the following instructions carefully.

1. IMPORTANT TELEPHONE NUMBERS. It includes not only the administration’s and

colleagues’ numbers, but also other emergency numbers such as fire department, local
rescue service, doctors/hospitals on panel, crisis management support units (1122) etc.

2. PERIOD ALLOCATION & DUTIES ASSIGNED. Must be filled in as it reflects the

workload as well as understanding and commitment of tasks assigned to a teacher.

3. CLASS & TEACHER TIMETABLE. Filling in Timetable properly is a pre-requisite as it

tells clearly/exactly where a particular teacher is and what he/she is teaching at a particular
time during working day.

4. RECORD OF SUBSTITUTE DUTIES IN EVERY MONTH. All teachers have to take

substitution periods during the session. A well-maintained record of substitution duties
reflects the workload given to a teacher during the session.

5. CLASS IMPROVEMENT PLAN. If developed in the beginning of the session, it helps the
teacher to conduct a realistic SWOT analysis of his/her class or students and proactively
plan/work to prepare students as independent learners. It helps to set SMART objectives,
suitable strategies, key activities, timeline, monitoring and evaluation system. It also provides
time for planning and reflection (Ref: FLASH Summer Training 2012 – Quality Teaching
Methodology - QTM). CIP must align with the School Improvement Plan. (Ref: FLASH
Management Training – SIM 2016/17).

6. WEEKLY LESSON DIARY. Teachers will briefly fill in the daily lesson diary with relevant
information, i.e., name of unit, reference from textbook, teacher’s guide, Scheme of Studies,
classwork and homework.

7. END OF THE UNIT REFLECTION. Self-reflection/evaluation is a very important part of

every lesson even though it typically takes place once the lesson is over. It requires the
teachers to think/reflect back about the lesson. The self-evaluation/analysis should answer
the following questions: (a) What went well? How was the lesson planned and executed? (b)
What went wrong? Did majority of students understand the concepts and get an idea of the
skill they are expected to develop as a result of teaching? (c) What needs to improve? Have
you mentioned the remedial measures in your monthly evaluation?

Note: Filling CIP is mandatory. Subject teachers will plan for the overall improvement in their
subject areas.

EVALUATION AND COORDINATION

Monthly Evaluation. Evaluation is an exercise in reviewing the planning/teaching-

learning process. It should be brief, explicit and concise.

Self-evaluation is a powerful tool that will help you become a better teacher.
Regularly reflecting on and evaluating your teaching in this way will give you valuable
insight and eventually lead you to develop a solid understanding of the teaching
process. Time spent in doing self-evaluation is time well invested in your future.

Monthly Coordination Meeting. Arrange Monthly Coordination Meeting to plan and

conduct curricular, co and extracurricular activities thoroughly. Section Heads will
coordinate with class teacher, subject teacher(s), computer teacher, teacher
librarian/librarian, lab assistant and DPE/PTI etc. Classwork, homework, written test
schedule, quarterly and term examination and content of all the classes will be
decided in Coordination Meeting. If arranged properly coordination meetings help to
organize instructional /assessment activities systematically. Following must be
considered:-

a. Pre-requisites of a Coordination Meeting:

1. Bring along textbooks, teacher guides and Scheme Of Studies in the
meeting.
2. Study in advance, the teacher guides, Scheme Of Studies and the next
lessons in the textbooks.
3. Prepare written tests, quarterly, term and annual exams (rough drafts for
discussion).

b. Steps to be followed:
1. Review the previous month’s work.
2. Decide how & when to complete the incomplete work (if any).
3. Discuss to plan the work to be done in the coming month.
4. Agree on the content, resources and instructional strategies to be used in
the coming month.
5. Discuss the Unit-wise planning/Weekly syllabus and its judicious daily/
period-wise allotment.
6. Identify the supplementary activities to be done in class as well as the
required resources.
7. Discuss the amount of classwork/homework (according to the Scheme of
Studies).
8. Prepare during coordination meeting, if a worksheet is to be used for
classwork, homework, revision, assessment.
9. Agree when classwork to be assessed (C&P period).
10. Decide on the nature of assessment test to be given to the students and get
it approved by the VP/Principal. Use verbs from Bloom’s Taxonomy that are
measurable and observable.
