OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be
able to:
1. Identify the Adverb and different types of
adverbs
2. Write sentences with appropriate adverbs
and,
3. Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility
towards learning.

2. Discussion
What is an Adverb? Teacher ,Adverb are words that describes

Anyone class, who has any idea about Adverb? verb, adjective and another Adverb.

--- An adverb is a part of speech that provides a

greater description of a verb, adjective, or
another adverb.
Adverbs are one of the four main parts of
speech, along with nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
The adverb is simple: they tell us more

information about an action or idea.

Adverbs modify different parts of speech, but

you're most likely to find them modifying
verbs.
e.g.: The cute dog runs quickly. ("quickly" (The students listen carefully)
modifies "runs")
My patient's mother walks slowly. ("slowly"
modifies "walks")
The quiet boy plays happily with trucks.
("happily" modifies "plays")

Types of Adverbs
There are five main kinds of adverbs, each
answering a different question. It includes the
adverb of manner, adverb of time, adverb of
degree, and adverb of frequency.

What is an Adverb of Manner?

An adverb of manner modifies or changes a
sentence to tell us how something happens,
such as whether it was quickly or slowly.
They're usually placed after the main verb or
after the object.
(how something happens)

“Next one is the adverb of time”

Adverbs of time ( Students listen carefully)
It changes or adds meaning to a sentence by
telling us when, for how long, and how often a
certain action happened. (when does something
happen)
Ex. yesterday, tomorrow, next week

Adverbs of place
- Adverbs of place tell us where something

happens. Adverbs of place are usually placed

after the main verb or after the clause that they
modify.
Some examples of adverbs of place: are here,
everywhere, outside, away, and around

Adverb of Degree
Adverbs of degree help us to express 'how
much' (or to what extent) we do something.
(how much does something happen)
Ex. almost, so, very

Adverb of Frequency
Adverbs of Frequency are adverbs of time
that answer the question "How frequently?" or
"How often?". They tell us how often
something happens.
Ex. always, never, often

In Finding Adverbs in a Sentence

An adverb is often one of the more descriptive

words in a sentence. Once you find the adverb,
you can determine what question the adverb is
answering.

For example
The dog messily ate his dinner. (How did the
dog eat his dinner?)

We go bowling quite often. (How often do you

go bowling?)

I hurriedly handed in my test. (How did you

hand in your test?)

Let's eat dinner outside. (Where should we eat

dinner?)

Notice in class that you can remove all of these

adverbs without affecting the meaning of the

sentences.

For example, "The dog ate his dinner" still

makes sense. However, adding the adverb
"messily" to make "The dog messily ate his
dinner" provides the reader with a more vivid
picture.

3. Practice Exercise
Group Activity

Cooperative learning

Okay class, we have three (3)groups that I

assigned last meeting right ? .Now, we will be
having a group activity, arrange your chair and
formed a circle .Here are the mechanics of the
game. I will present the sentences, then you're
going to answer it by identifying the adverb,
please raise the white board quickly. The group
that raise the board first can get the score,is that
clear class.
The group that has the highest score will win
chocolate and snacks, while others also have
their consolation prize.

4. Generalization
