Resettlement Action Plan
The RAP were prepared based on major Components of the Bridge as
mentioned below
• Development of Four Resettlement Sites: RAP-I
• Main Bridge, Approach road, Service Area and Bridge End Facility: RAP-II
• River Training Works: RAP-III
• Construction Yard at Janjira including Temporary Resettlement Site, Janjira:
RAP-IV
• Construction Yard at Mawa: RAP-V
• Total 2123 residential plots and 80 commercial plots are available in four
resettlement sites
Development of Resettlement Sites

1. Loss of 60.59 ha of agriculture land and 17,536 trees, 1.5 ha of


ponds, and construction related impacts such loss of top soils, noise
impacts.

2. Establish 4 Resettlement Sites (RS) for PAPs with basic


infrastructure facilities such as roads, drains, water supply, garbage
disposal site, sanitation, school, mosque, health centre, market, play
ground, power supply, and greenbelts. Accommodate 1,944
households in Resettlement sites Create job opportunities for
those who lost employments due to land acquisition in the
construction and post construction O/M

A leap for Asian connectivity
Industrial Revolution

• According to BSCIC officials, around 500-1,000 factories of


various categories are projected to be established in areas
surrounding Barisal. Factories are also expected to be built in
Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Bagerhat, Gopalganj, and
Khulna.

• Barisal Chamber of Commerce estimated that over Tk 10,000


crore investments will come within 10 years of opening the
bridge.

• Land Price 6 Lakh BDT from 2 Lakh BDT per decimal.

Benefitting existing industries:

• 29% growth in construction sector, 9.5% in agriculture,


8% in manufacturing & transportation.

• Transportation raw materials from Chittagong, Mongla


and Payra ports at a cheaper rate that will benefit existing
local businesses.

• Manufacturers of fast-moving consumer goods will also be


able to reach their products to the remote places of 21
southwestern districts easily.

Macro-Economic Benefits

• The estimation stood at 1,295,840 million BDT ($18,512 million) over the 31
years.

Micro-Level Growth

• Poverty to drop by 1% in the region, 0.8% nationally.

• People empowered with new opportunities will be


more into small businesses. There will be a rise in
trained workers as wages are expected to increase.

commute time will add to better living.
