1. A disc of radius 12 cm is free to rotate about


point O, a rope is wound which is pulled with a
force F = 10 N as shown in the figure. At point
C, a light rod AC is attached to the disc, which
rests on the fixed support at the point B. If force
F0 = 10 k N is required to apply to the left end
of the rod so that whole system remains in
balance, find the value of k. Given BC = 30 cm,
AB = 15 cm, OC = 4 cm.

2. A uniform rod of mass m, length  rotates about its end


point O in horizontal plane. If the rod is rotating with a
constant angular speed on a frictionless surface and
the ratio of restoring force developed in the rod at

3. A uniform solid cone is inclined against a


vertical axis as shown in the figure. The cone

4. A hollow hemispherical bowl of mass m, radius R


is placed on a smooth horizontal surface. A
particle (also of mass m) strikes the hemi spherical
bowl at point P and sticks to it. The velocity of

6. Block of mass ‘m’ is released from height ‘R’

9. A thin uniform rod is placed on a sticky table such that


its mid-point is at one-fourth of its length from the
edge of the table. It falls due to gravitational force and
slips after rotating 45° from its initial horizontal
position. Find the coefficient of friction between the
rod and the table.

10. Two particles A and B each of mass 2 kg are connected


by a massless rod of length  = 1 m. Another particle C
of mass 4 kg moving with a velocity 2.5 m/s
(perpendicular to the rod AB) collides with the particle B

11. A particle of mass m is rigidly attached to the circumference


of a uniform circular ring of mass m and radius R and placed

rolling without slipping on the rough horizontal surface. If the
frictional force acting on the ring due to horizontal surface
when the particle is getting at the end of the horizontal

12. An inverted cone of height h is scooped out of a
uniform cone of radius 2h and height 2h
symmetrically as shown in the figure. If moment of
inertia of the removed portion about the axis shown
is I and the moment of inertia of the remaining
portion is l. Find the value of ‘’.

13. A uniform sphere of mass m = 2 kg rolls without


slipping on the inside of cylinder of radius R = 2 m.
The cylinder spins around its axis (which points
horizontally) with angular acceleration . What should

sphere to remain motionless at an angle  = 30° from

all points of contact and assume that it is large
enough to keep the system at rest. Find the friction
force (in Newton) between the ground and the disc.
