Digital dilemma

The two paragraphs cover topics such as the influence of social media on young folks and their
communication habits, but with contrasting views.

The first text suggests that technology, especially social media and video games, is detrimental to youth's
social life. Not only are they unable to hold conversations, but they also are addicted to computers,
spending hours on end in front of screens. For example, status updates are catered to a large following,
but most of the time, those followers do not have a genuine rapport with the poster, making the process
useless and devoid of depth. Naming such an app "social media" might be deceiving because not
everything on the app can be classified as socialisation.

In contrast, the second text sheds light on the benefits of being able to always keep in touch with loved
ones with the help of phones and apps meant for communication. Clearly, the influence of this
connection on us is significant, as it is the first time in history that we have this chance. To exemplify,
people can video call each other at any time, enabling them to connect effortlessly and strengthen their
relationship. Furthermore, technology also enabled young people to meet and discover new cultures,
giving them a larger perspective on the world.

To conclude, despite social media being addictive and sometimes shallow, it is extremely helpful in
maintaining bonds with our friends and family. If we use it wisely, we can reap all its benefits and enjoy
talking freely to whomever we want, ultimately improving our social circle.
