INTRODUCTION

The assignment will cover four modules related to hotel, restaurant and

transportation issues.

I will give insight into the different types of hotel guests that are considere when

choosing accommodation as well as the restaurant business. I will mention the

variety of types of restaurants and how the sector and more..

will learn about the diferent public transportation option that are economical and

why car rentals are or are not necessary.

MODULE 1 THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

In the hotel area can be classified into 4 types of guests, price, location, style and

functions.

In the lodging industry, guests are divided into two main categories: business and

leisure. There’re also four subcategories by type of stay: self-catering, transient,

corporate and group. Lodging companies focus on one or two types of customers

and tailor product and promotional campaigns for those market segments.

Business guests travel for profesional reasons and leisure guests travel by

personal choice and may stay for longer periods.

Important Factors in Choosing Accommodations

Location is a key factor in choose where to stay. Tourist resorts offer a wide

variety of recreational activities in private or secluded locations. Airport hotels are

convenient for leisure or business travelers. Downtown hotels, on the other hand,

are ideal for business travelers and tourists as they are located in the heart of the

city, with access to tourist attractions, stores and restaurants..

MODULE 2 THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS

In this module I looked at the different types of restaurants that can exist and how

they impact people's lives.

Food service is fundamental in all cultures and societies as it not only satisfies a

basic need, but also brings comfort and is used in celebrations or social

interactions. The foodservice industry is constantly growing and generates millions

of dollars in sales, as well as employment for millions of people around the world.

The restaurant offer is very varied, with theme establishments that adapt the

menu and ambience to a specific market, including shows and celebrities. Ethnic

diversity is reflected in the ethnic restaurant offerings, with Asian and Italian being

the most popular, followed by Mexican food. Pizzerias are popular thanks to home

delivery, while chicken dishes are a healthy alternative to the hamburger and

steakhouses have experienced a renaissance. Although seafood is a small part of

the industry, Long John Silver's is the largest seafood chain in the U.S., as are

hamburgers.

Something curious I read was that Since the 1940s, government-funded schools

have provided meal programs to students, and many now offer breakfasts in

addition to nutritious lunches.

The survey I did in class makes it clear to me how people choose macdonal over

and over again and I think that franchise will never have a massive loss because

they have been in business for so many years, they know the market and what the

market wants.
MODULE 3 TRANSPORTATION

For this module we refered to Panamanian transportation in the class where

there were diferent opinions about what we thought of the transportation here and

it widely offers speed and efficiency and stands out when it provides access from

different points and mobility at the destination.

There’re several transportation options such as buses, cabs, car rental, among

others. The public transportation system is of good quality and reliable in general.

It is not necessary to rent a vehicle to travel in Panama, but if you want to get

around for free, you can get one. Buses are an economical and frequent option,

and night buses are an excelent alternative to combine transportation and lodging

on longer trips.

On the other hand, cabs are ideal for those who wish to reach their destination

quickly or have more personal space. They are usually yellow with white, and it is

possible to negotiate prices. If you don't know the exact address where you are

going, don't worry, the driver will help you.

MODULE 4 AIR TRANSPORTATION AND THE AIRPORT BUSINESS

For the last module, it was seen that the airline industry offers a wide variety of

job opportunities, from customer-facing positions, such as cabin crew, to support

and service roles, such as commercial or ground crew.

Functions in the air: the main people in this area are the pilot, the co-pilot, the

navigator and the flight engineer, who are responsible for ensuring the safety of the

aircraft and its pasengers. These profesionals are trained and educate to be in

their position. Some examples of their responsibilities are: The purser directs the

entire cabin crew and ensures that passengers enjoy a safe and comfortable flight.

Flight attendants do everything from making announcements, serving food and

beverages to overseeing boarding procedures. But their primary mission is to keep

passengers safe and provide quality service.

Roles on the ground: At the airport, ground staff are responsible for the daily

check-in of pasengers and their baggage. To ensure everyone's safety, security

measures have been implemented for airport staff. Gate agents check scheduled

departures, check in carry-on baggage and provide flight information.

CONCLUSION

In summary, the hospitality industry from the point of view highlights the

different types of establishments, the factors that influence customer choice and

the jobs within each sector.

In my personal opinion, the truth is that if I have learned throughout the semester,

as has been his method of teaching has been the best that cares for us to learn to

pronounce, write and put our knowledge into practice.
