First level assessment

 Family structure- nuclear family with a functional type of family or procreation (2 adult
parents and 6 children)
- The family resides near the domicile parents of the husband so it is a patrilocal
type of residence
1. Water - drinking water comes from a free-flowing water pump near their house and
water for their utility needs comes from a hose that is also free flowing but seldom used due to
the rusty supply of water, so they use hand pump (bombahan) located at a neighbor’s house.
2. Shelter- the house that they are currently living in was lent to them by the father’s
parents who also lives near the compound. They also used to live in a friend’s house for the first
year of their marriage to also look out for his friend’s carwash business but was eventually
kicked out and then their current home was given.
3. Financial/work – the father of the family is the only one who works on a daily basis
through part time worker in construction jobs and the eldest son (16 yr. old- grade 4) also helps
in getting money on the table by working as a dishwasher or fishing in a nearby river. Hence, the
breadwinner of the family is the father and the eldest son. Their money also comes from a
government program called Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which they are included.

Introduction
According to WHO (1974): “Community health refers to health status of members of community
to the problems affecting health and the totality of health care provided to the community”. In this
project instead of addressing health problems of a community as whole, the researchers used a unit of a
community which is family, addressed health issues within the circle and made use of planning or
formulated a goal at the end of their specified care. For the plans and goals to be formulated, the
researchers made use of home visitation method and interviewed/ observe feasible necessary
information, aside from the health problems, information like geographical data and family structure
was also gathered.

Moreover, research suggests that geography and health are always interconnected with each
other. Environmental factors like the place we live in, the origin of the foods we eat, the air we breathe,
the water that circulates around and even the accessible healthcare in the area affects health in various
ways, in such matter the effect can be negative or positive depending on the environment and the
maintenance of it. The interview of the chosen family within a community took place in Sta. Rita which is
formerly known as bungahan a is a barangay in the city of Calapan, in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 1,864.

Furthermore, in addition to geographical data, the researchers interviewed the family about their
family stricture and the origin of their physiological needs. The family is a nuclear family which is a family
