Course objectives:
A two week laboratory with puppeteer and film maker Gavin Glover exploring two very different visual theatre techniques
juxtaposing Puppet, Performer and Projection.

Nasty puppetry - explores the fragile bond between puppet and performer.
By pretending that the puppet is real, the puppet is given the freedom to express its own desires, whims and feelings to
form a strangely symbiotic and sometimes unsettling relationship with the performer inviting the audience to question
who controls who.

Micro Cinema Theatre - a cinema of tiny things.

If we point little cameras at tiny objects we can discover extraordinary details and hidden movements in the most
mundane of spaces. By playing with focus, colour and light we can find meaning in every nuance and we can create a
fascinating new form of cinema.

In this exploratory workshop we will combine our findings by introducing some carefully chosen microcinema to our
slightly post-modern approach to puppetry and create some very surprising and moving theatre.

Participants will be asked to bring a number of objects to use during the workshop.

This is a unique opportunity to partake in two of Gavin Glover’s most popular workshops which he has combined especially
for this event at Nordland Visual Theatre.
