WORD FORMATION

There are certain common endings for adjectives which are formed from nouns and verbs. These are:
-able: fashionable, moveable, knowledgeable
-al: classical, dental

-ar: angular, rectangular
-ary: imaginary
-ate: fortunate
-en: wooden
-ent: dependent
-ean: Shakespearean
-ous: dangerous, courageous
-esque: picturesque

-ic: historic
-ical: historical
-ious: hilarious
-ish: reddish

-less: careless
-like: businesslike
-ly: friendly
