Title: FARMERS CONGRESS

A. RATIONALE

Agriculture is the main source of livelihood of the residents of Barangay San Miguel. Ever
since, agriculture has not been given special attention for funding mainly because of very limited
source of budget and because there are many programs prioritized.

The Sangguniang Barangay of San Miguel dares to venture in agriculture by formulating its
Barangay Agriculture and Fisheries Development Investment Program with attached plan for the FY
2024 – 2033.

The conduct of Farmers Congress is very timely in order for the farmers to validate the
programs, plans, projects and activities identified in the BAFDIP 2024 – 2033. Special highlight of the
activity will be the following Information and Education Campaign:
(1) CBDRRM: Introducing a Disaster-Resilient Agriculture
(2) Overview of the Barangay Agriculture and Fisheries Development Investment Plan
2024 – 2033
(3) Overview of the Barangay Agriculture and Fisheries Development Investment Plan
2024 – 2033
(4) Provincial Agriculture Programs
(5) Municipal Agriculture Programs

There will be a meeting to follow which will discuss the following:

(1) Creation of Barangay Agricultural and Fisheries Council (BAFC)
(2) Farm Products Buying Station Establishment Project
a. Operation Standard
b. Strategies
c. Implementing Rules
d. Production Menu
e. Organic Farming Engagement

B. GOALS
1. Promote disaster-resilient agriculture.
2. Promote Organic Agriculture system.
3. Promote food security among households.
 4. Strengthen Farmers Associations.
5. Create Barangay Agricultural and Fisheries Council (BAFC).
6. Formulate Buying and Selling Station Operation Standard, Strategies and Implementing
Rules.
