Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and Martha Rogers' Science of Unitary
Human Beings are two nursing theories that highlight the importance of patient-
centered, holistic care. The necessity of the nurse-patient relationship and the
therapeutic value of genuine human connection are both emphasized by Jean Watson's
idea. It emphasizes the importance of compassion in nursing practice. However, Martha
Rogers' theory challenges established medical paradigms by emphasizing the
connection of individuals and their environment. Because they both serve as reminders
of the significant effect that understanding, caring, and a holistic perspective of patients
can have on the quality of nursing care, Jean Watson and Martha Rogers serve as
essential characters in the development of nursing theory and practice.
