FORT AGUADA
The Fort Was Constructed In 1612 To Guard Against The Dutch And The Marathas. It Was A Reference Point For The Vessels
Coming From Europe At That Time. This Old Portuguese Fort Stands On The Beach South Of Candolim, At The Shore Of The
Mandovi River. It Was Initially Tasked With Defense Of Shipping And The Nearby Bardez Sub-District. A Freshwater Spring
Within The Fort Provided Water Supply To The Ships That Used To Stop By. This Is How The Fort Got Its Name: Aguada,
Meaning Watery In The Portuguese Language. Crews Of Passing Ships Would Often Visit To Replenish Their Freshwater
Stores. On The Fort Stands A Four-Story Portuguese Lighthouse, Erected In 1864 And The Oldest Of Its Kind In Asia. Built In
1612, It Was Once The Grandstand Of 79 Cannons. It Has The Capacity Of Storing 2,376,000 Gallons Of Water, One Of The
Biggest Freshwater Storages Of The Time In Whole Of Asia. This Fort Is Divided In Two Segments: The Upper Part Acted As
Fort And Watering Station, While The Lower Part Served As A Safe Berth For Portuguese Ships. Whereas The Upper Part Has
A Moat, Underground Water Storage Chamber, Gunpowder Room, Lighthouse, And Bastions, It Also Has A Secret Escape
Passage To Use During Time Of War And Emergency. The Lighthouse At The Initial Stage Is Used To Emit Light Once In 7
Minutes.

CHAPORA FORT
Chapora Fort , located in Bardez, Goa, rises high above the Chapora River. The site was the location of a fort built by Muslim
ruler Adil Shah called Shahpura, whose name the Portuguese altered to Chapora. The fort changed hands several times after
Portuguese acquired Bardez. Trying to end the Portuguese rule in Goa, Prince Akbar joined his father's enemies, the Marathas
in 1683 and made this place his base camp.[citation needed] It became the northern outpost of the Old Conquests. After the
Portuguese recovered from an encounter with the Marathas, they strengthened their northern defenses and provided shelter to
the people there.

The Dona Paula Beach Is Also A Major Tourist Attraction. According To A Local Myth, Dona Paula Entombed In The Cabo

Only A Pearl Necklace. Several Tourists As Well As Locals Guided By This Myth Visit The Beach For A Glimpse Of Dona

OLD GOA CHURCH
The Basilica of Bom Jesus (Portuguese: Basílica do Bom Jesus; Konkani: Borea Jezuchi Bajilika) is a Roman Catholic basilica
located in Goa, India, and is part of the Churches and convents of Goa UNESCO World Heritage Site. The basilica is located in
Old Goa, former capital of Portuguese India, and holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier 'Bom Jesus' (literally, 'Good (or
Holy) Jesus') is the name used for the Ecce Homo in the countries of Portuguese colonization. The Jesuit church is India's first
minor basilica, and is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture and Portuguese Colonial architecture in
India. It is one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World.Construction work on the church began in 1594. The
church was consecrated in May 1605 by the archbishop, Dom Fr. Aleixo de Menezes. This world heritage monument has
emerged as a landmark in the history of Christianity. It contains the body of St. Francis Xavier, a very close friend of St.
Ignatius Loyola with whom he founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Francis Xavier died on Sancian Island, Chuandao,
Taishan while en route to continental China on (3 December 1552). The body of Francis Xavier was first taken to Portuguese
Malacca and two years later shipped back to Goa. It is said that the saint's body was as fresh as the day it was buried. The
remains of the saint still attract a huge number of tourists (Christian and non-Christian alike) from all over the world, especially
during the public viewing of his body every ten years (last held in 2014). The saint is said to have miraculous powers of
healing.

This Temple Had Its Origins In Kushasthali Cortalim, A Village In Murmugao Which Fell To The Invading Portuguese In
1543. In The Year 1560, When The Portuguese Started Christian Conversions In Mormuga Taluka, The Saraswats Of
Kaundinya Gotra And Vatsa Gotra Moved The Mangesh Linga From The Original Site At The Kushasthali Or Cortalim On The
Banks Of River Aghanashini (Zuari)(Sancoale) To Its Present Location At Mangeshi In Priol Village Of Atrunja Taluka, Which
Was Then Ruled By The Hindu Kings Of Sonde Of Antruz Mahal (Ponda), To Be More Secure.

Miramar Is The Beach Area Of The Goan Capital Of Panjim, Also Known As Panaji And Is One Of The Most Visited Beaches
Of Goa. It Is One Of The Two Only Beaches In Panjim, Other Being Caanzalem Beach. Many People, Mostly Tourists, Come
To This Beach Every Day. Originally Named Porta De Gaspar Dias By The Portuguese, The Name Was Then Changed To
Miramar.

The Church Was Abandoned In 1835 After The Portuguese Government Of Goa Began Evicting Many Religious Orders In Goa
Under Its New Repressive Policies. The Subsequent Neglect Caused The Vault Of The Church To Collapse In 1842. The Body
Collapsed Soon After And By 1871, The Bell Was Moved From The Tower To Our Lady Of The Immaculate Conception
Church In Panjim, Where It Remains To Date. In 1931, The Facade Of The Church And Half The Tower Collapsed And By
1938, Most Of The Other Parts Had Also Collapsed. Currently Only Half The Tower Remains, And It Is One Of The Most
Visited Tourist Destinations In Goa. The Ruins Were Featured In The Song Gumnaam Hai Koi From The 1965 Suspense
Thriller Movie Gumnaam And Saathiya From The Bollywood Hit Singham

DUDHSAGAR WATER FALL
(literally Sea of Milk) is a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa. It is 60 km from Panaji
by road and is located on the Madgaon-Belagavi rail route about 46 km east of Madgaon and 80 km south of Belgaum.
Dudhsagar Falls is amongst India's tallest waterfalls with a height of 310 m (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100
feet).The falls is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park among the Western Ghats. The
waterfall forms the border between Karnataka and Goa states. The area is surrounded by deciduous forests with rich
biodiversity. The falls are not particularly spectacular during the dry season but during the monsoon season, however, the falls
are fed by rains and form a huge force of water.

Today after breakfast full day sightseeing our Goa - Visit Old Goa, the most important Cathedrals and
2 churches - namely Se-Cathedral, Church of St. Francis Xavier, St. Catherine's Church, Arch of Vice Roy of
Goa. Miramar Beach - This is the only beach close to any city and hasa good view of the river Mandovi
flowing into the sea. Also visit Dona Paula fishing village which is a small village at the tip of Panaji, the

place has a very good viewpoint and a monument at the same place.Overnight in Goa.

Today morning after breakfast today Excrusion to Dudhsagar Waterfalls. Enjoy splashes of the gushing
4 water and feed the monkeys roaming around. Cool down in the mountain waters and enjoy lush green
forest around you. While coming back, enjoy a walk into the aromatic Spice Plantations. Towards the end
of the day, come back to the hotel and stay for the night.
