Answer the following questions: (minimum of 200 words)

1. How did the senior citizens in the video use technology and the Internet in their daily
lives?
We watched a film about senior citizens using the internet and technology in a
modern way. The idea that even senior citizens find enjoyment in using contemporary
electronics like laptops, cellphones, and other equipment is entertaining. Because to
Lola Techie, other senior citizens are on the verge of learning how to utilize it due to its
expansion. Firstly, seniors who use technology and stay up to date with modern times
comprise the interviewees for State of the Nation with Jessica Sojo’s reporter Athena
Imperial interviews. Like Lola Norma Dela Cruz, one of Athena's interviewees, who uses
the Skype software to communicate with her grandchild who is in Japan, they can
benefit from the internet because she can manage it and to my surprise, she also knew
the account management process of the said software. Another interviewee is Tessie
Moreno, aka "Lola Techie" given that she can utilize technology to instruct and assist
others her age who use electronics, she also uses her gadgets to have fun. Lastly, the
majority of seniors are able to stay up with their tech-savvy families and enjoy their daily
lives since they are learning new things. Their everyday usage of technology also helps,
as Lola Techie's interview reveals that it makes it easier for them to communicate with
their family and allows them to still have fun.
2. How did the government help the senior citizens become more media and information
literate?
Using devices and other technologies is a step toward modern living. As a result,
a lot of people want to share their opinions about utilizing gadgets and learn how to
utilize them. However, a lot of people are willing to lend a hand, particularly senior
citizens who are interested in learning about different gadgets and technologies. Firstly,
they received training from the Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) IT
program, which teaches senior citizens the fundamentals of using computers and the
internet such as basic computer skills and internet functions. Many senior citizens are
interested in using electronics and to become media literate because of this initiative.
Additionally, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) staff members are training
elderly citizens interested in using gadgets in their community through the Office of
Senior Citizens Affairs of Quezon City. Lastly, the news brought by Athena Imperial will
bring awareness to senior citizens throughout the country because they will know the
positives of learning about modern technologies and become a media literate like Lola
Techie. Because of this news, there will be more organizations that will help those who
want to learn about gadgets not only for senior citizens but also for other people who
want to learn and be disciplined in the use of gadgets.
3. What makes senior citizens, or people in general, media and information literate
Modern technology is one example of the things that change with time. As a
result, we can also alter our viewpoint on how to utilize it. Since we frequently use
technology excessively, organizations and individuals exist to disseminate information
about how to use it properly. Firstly, she shares information and her tech-related
experience, much like Lola Techie. We can tell she is media and information literate
based on her explanation. Providing information that will assist others in modernizing
their lives is a sign of media and information literacy. Aside from this, being media and
information literate is also beneficial to us as technology users. Many people in the
modern world do this, and many are unaware that even we are media and information
literate since we know how to make use of technology and can even share information
on social media. As a result, having a strong media and information literacy is
tremendously beneficial to us. It serves senior citizens in making appropriate use of
technology. Senior citizens can learn from Lola Techie that being media and information
literate is a privilege as long as you love what you do, and you serve others. Lola Techie
is a role model for this point of view.
