Who may apply?

You are eligible for this scholarship if:

•  you are a paid-up member or full-time and permanent employee of one of


the above listed trade unions; or

• you are the spouse (as legally defined) of a paid-up member or fulltime and
permanent employee of one of the trade unions; or

• you are a child dependant (includes adopted child, stepchild, grandchild),


younger than 25 years of age, of a paid up member or fulltime and permanent
employee of one of the trade unions; and

•  you intend to pursue your studies at an official public university in South


Africa; and

•  you are studying towards your first undergraduate degree (i.e. certificate,
diploma and first degree level); and

The selection process is based on academic ranking. The selection committee is al-education-trust/
comprised of 4 representatives of the higher education sector who audit and verify
the process. Final approval for the scholarships is granted by the OMET Board.
