Social Media Writing Assignment

For this assignment I chose Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds was born in Vancouver,

British Columbia, Canada on October 23, 1976. Ryan Reynolds now lives in Pound Ridge New

York with a wife and three daughters. His wife is actress Blake Lively and his three daughters are

James, Inez, and Betty who are 8, 7 and 4 respectively. Ryan Reynolds also has a 4th child on the

way. He graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1994 and has been involved in acting

since he was thirteen. He began acting in 1991 and has continued to the present day. Ryan

Reynolds also owns a great number of businesses supporting him alongside his acting. His

businesses include Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, Maximum Effort, and Wrexham AFC. He and his

wife are close friends with the artist Taylor Swift. His father James Chester Reynolds was a

Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman and was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease when Ryan

was a teenager. His trainer for the last fourteen years has been Don Saladino and it appears they

are good friends. His mother is Tammy Reynolds, and they are very close, he even brings her on

the red carpet and to events. Ryan Reynolds grew up with three older brothers: Jeff, Terry and

Patrick Reynolds. His brother Terry followed in his fathers footsteps and was Mountie. He has

many friends including Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock, Glenn Close, Paul Hollywood, and Rob

McElhenney. Ryan Reynolds enjoys trolling his friends and family on Instagram. He seems very

invested in watching games of his soccer team Wrexham AFC. The family has a dog named

Boots. Ryan Reynolds is a man who enjoys comedy and humor which is a big part of his

personality. He is a family man that often speaks lovingly about his wife and kids. Ryan

Reynolds is a doting husband to his wife Blake Lively. His social media consists mostly of ads

for his companies and endorsements of her companies, Betty Booze and Betty Buzz. It is very

apparent that Ryan Reynolds loves his mother. He takes her to the red carpet and other events

and there are many posts of the two of them on Instagram and Facebook showing how close they

are. Ryan Reynolds puts his family first, speaking of his wife and kids when given various

awards. Ryan Reynolds has self-reported that he struggles with anxiety and depression. He

speaks of his father being harsh but he had the love and protection of his older brothers and has

developed great resilience, using humor to get through the darkest times. It appears that he is a

hard worker who is dedicated to his businesses. He is also a philanthropist giving back to

charities such as Bring Change to Mind and Terry Fox Foundation. His social media accounts

also show how much he cares for his friends, as he posts individual videos for each of their

birthdays. Ryan Reynolds seems like a very loving person. He does not hesitate to use the phrase

“I love…”, it is very common in his captions and a common phrase of his to both friends, family,

and coworkers showing his great love and care for those around him.
