STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Abdullah Masood S/o Arif Masood and I belong to Wazirabad (City of Cutlery), District Gujranwala
which is province of Punjab, Pakistan. I was born on 17 th of April 1999. My father is a businessman by
profession and he will pay all my educational, living and other expenses during my studies. My mother is
house lady. We are ten family members including parents and I am the second son of my parents. My
basic aim is to get advance knowledge and skills through my chosen field of study. I did my 4 semesters of
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Capital University of Science and Technology and got
3.37/4.00 CGPA but I did not continue my study in Pakistani Institute because this course is not much
developed in my country. So to get a good quality education I decided to study abroad to enhance my
professional lifestyle.

Studying abroad is not only about educational and cultural experience. It looks great on resume as it
provides excellent career opportunities. I have chosen Australia from all English speaking countries. I
want to undertake my higher studies from one of the English-Speaking country namely Australia and I
choose its well-known educational institute namely Deakin University by Choosing Bachelor of Electrical
and Electronics Engineering (Honours).

My educational Backgrounds are as follow:

● I did my PTE Test on 18 th August 2022 and I got overall score of 57 with Listening (51), Reading

(59), Speaking (62) and Writing (58).

● In Spring 2022, I did my 4 semesters of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Capital

University of Science and Technology and got 3.37/4.00 CGPA.

● My Educational one year gap exists between DAE and Bachelor because after completion of my

Diploma in 2019 I wanted to study further but due to the Pandemic of Corona Virus all of the
Universities and Institutions were closed due to lockdown and thus this resulted as a gap in my
academic and education career.

● In 2019, I have completed my Diploma of Associate Engineer from Punjab Board of Technical

Education by securing 2566/3550 marks in it.

● In Annual Examination 2016, I have completed 10-years education with Science Group (Physics,

Chemistry and Biology) from Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Gujranwala by
securing 653/1100 marks in it.
The selected course of Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours) is relevant with my
previous qualification of Diploma of Associate Engineer and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Moreover, I choose this course because Electrical and Electronic Engineering mainly focus on engineering
related to electricity and electrical engineers are employed across a broad range of industries including
power generation, transmission and distribution, resources, telecommunications, power electronics and
renewable energy.

I realized that studying in engineering degree from here in Pakistan is not much beneficial. This course is
not only meant on theoretical basis but also requires the confidence that needs to be showed up in
professional career. No doubt we have highly Qualified Professor with some great Institutes like, National
University of Sciences & Technology, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore University of
Management Sciences, COMSATS University, University of Central Punjab and International Islamic
University etc. In the modern era things are too focused practically rather than theoretically. But the
education system of Pakistan is facing a lot of challenges through different means. The major problem in
the education system is poor allocation of the budget. The authorities are bound to spend too less in
education. The successive governments have given 2.5% for education which cannot fulfill the needs of
education in present times. The second biggest problem is policy implementation. Thousands of policies
are made but no implementation has ever been seen. Some other problems such as poor education
system, lack of resources, direction less education and outdated curriculum are associated with the
education system of Pakistan. All these problems are making the education system of Pakistan weak and
outdated day by day. Being a Student from Pakistan, I have closely observed and experienced our
education system. After assessment with foreign education providers, I came to know that Pakistan is far
behind to meet the international standards. The aim of getting higher studies from abroad is to make my
future bright and get the reward of my qualification by working in my native country Pakistan.

I have searched much more about countries which are most famous for international students. I gathered
information from many websites related to study abroad and ultimately I found
www.studyinaustralia.gov.au website and from there I understood why Australia is one of the best
destinations for international students. Australia is the most popular place for international students in
the world. I have chose Australia for my higher studies because Australia is currently the third most popular
destination for international students in the English-speaking world, behind the United States and the UK.
Bachelor degree from an Australian university would be an important stepping-stone towards my
successful career. Australia is well known for quality education and students who study in Australia have
been seen as highly qualified and successful in their career. The universities in Australia provide a wide
range of courses to international students. Australia is a highly diversified country with a multicultural
environment. University courses and syllabus are industrial based in Australia. Degrees from Australian
universities are highly sought after due to the impressive international reputation of the Australian
education system. This system is carefully regulated by the government in order to maintain the high
standards of education associated with the country. Australian universities offer high-quality degrees,
which are recognized and valued worldwide. With an Engineering degree from a well known Australian
university like Deakin University, I will be in high demand with employers. Universities engage students
in an active and useful learning environment by delivering them excellent teaching and job relevant
content. In short, Australia is one of the most welcoming and diverse countries. Its friendly natives, fair
climate and post-study prospects also convinced me to choose Australia for higher education.

Furthermore, Australia has one of the highest living standards in the world and most importantly it’s an
English speaking country so language will surely not be a barrier for me. Australia’s standard of living is
among the highest in the world. Living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower in Australia
than they are in the United States and the United Kingdom. International students are able to work part-
time while they study, allowing them to offset their living costs. There is also the possibility of
scholarships, which help to lower the cost of studying for international students. Institutions in Australia
offer a wide variety of courses and degrees, so international students can easily find the school and field
that are right for them. Students can choose between universities, vocational education, and English
language training. If necessary, it is easy for students to move between one qualification level and from
one institution to another.

In comparison with other nations, Like United States, Canada, and the UK, the educational & living cost in
Australia is quite affordable, consequently allowing the students to get the most ideal training by paying
the base costs. The Australian climate is more close to nature. Seasonal diversification can be seen here
in Australia as four seasons represent a life touching sensation each year which cannot be seen in the UK,
USA, or Canada.

I have applied to Deakin University to study for a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
(Honours) because at Deakin University I will have a meaningful learning experience and outstanding
study environment. Deakin University is one of the top public universities in Australia. It is ranked #266
in QS World University Rankings 2023 and In Engineering, University ranked #202. Over 60,000 students
from Australia and around the world choose Deakin for progressive, real-world learning that leads to
career success. In Deakin University where I will acquire excellent education, skills and experience; I will
not only gain practical experience but an advantage to explore career options and develop a professional
network. Deakin offers access to a globally-recognized research network. Collaborate with research
partners nationally and internationally and present at prestigious conferences. The award that I will get
from completion of this degree is recognized in the Australians Qualifications Framework as well as
recognized globally. Apart from academics, I will also have easy access to modern facilities and latest
technology provided by Deakin University. Considering all these factors I realized that Deakin University
is the best choice for me in terms of my proposed course and career progression than other universities
in Australia. Deakin's Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours) is accredited by
Engineers Australia. This accreditation gives their degrees international recognition, allowing graduates
to practice as professional engineers in many countries around the world. From this university, I'll get
hands-on learning from year one in their state-of-the-art engineering facilities. Students explore endless
possibilities in digital manufacturing, computer modelling, virtual reality environments, a high-voltage
tesla lab, 3D printing and rapid prototyping capabilities. The QS world ranking of the University of New
South Wales, Sydney, University of Adelaide is far less than the ranking of Deakin University according to
QS World ranking. After further research, I found Deakin University because this university is one of the
top 50 young universities in the world. Moreover, Murdoch University fees are very affordable and my fee
is AUD$7,308 for one year which is less costly as compared to other universities in Australia. A Deakin
scholarship could help me pay for my course fees, living costs and study materials. That’s why I decided
to pursue my higher studies from Deakin University.

I choose Melbourne city as compared to other cities of Australia because it is home to six of the world's
best universities, along with plenty of globally renowned academics and researchers. Around 140
cultures are represented in Melbourne, creating a diverse and welcoming environment for people from
all over the world. For this reason, Melbourne is generally considered the best place for international
students in Australia. Melbourne is generally considered to be a very safe city. In the 2021 Safe Cities
Index, it ranked 9th in the world for overall safety, and was rated as having ‘very high’ safety across
digital security, health security, infrastructure security and personal security. Melbournians are very
friendly and welcoming.
