Members present: Traci Davis, Angie Dudley, Dori Burger, Becky Pizzini, Kimberly Bone, Kristen Altermatt, Christina Phillips, Bob Clabough, Amy Williams, Sandra Wimbish, Shannon Rice, Beth Feldman, Karen Snidow, Jenny Szulczewski, Beth Lucas, Maureen Dingus, Wendy McCallum, Tina Long, Shannon Clemens, Mr. Maher, Mrs. Siegel, and Mrs. Elliott

Call to order by Traci Davis, PTA President at 5:59 p.m.

2. Secretarys report Becky Pizzini Approval of minutes from August 2011 PTA board meeting. Motion by Sandra Wimbish to approve minutes of meeting held 8/30/2011; motion seconded and so approved. 3. Officers Reports President Traci Davis - Since the first day of school the PTA has logged over 800 volunteer hours. - Comcast will be offering a deal on laptop computers and internet service to those families receiving a free/reduced lunch. - 15 fifth graders will be singing at Westchester Commons at 2:30 PM on Saturday, 9/17/2011. - The PTA raised over $300 at the first Chick-Fil-A spirit night on 9/12/2011. Vice President Angie Dudley No report made. Treasurer Dori Burger Report to be given during general membership portion of meeting (see below). 4. Committee Reports Volunteer Coordinator Sandra Wimbish Committee volunteer lists are being assembled, chairpersons to be notified soon. Membership/Directory Christina Phillips Over 408 memberships have been processed since the start of school; membership cards are going home soon.

Mileage Club Beth Lucas Jogging trail affected by erosion. Cross Creek Nursery has agreed to provide help in getting the trail repaired. Ways & Means Amy Williams Fundraising packets go home with students on 9/12/2011, orders are due back on 10/12/2011, with product delivery scheduled for week of 11/15/2011. Will need volunteers to help with the fundraiser. 5. Administrative Reports Principals Report Mr. Maher Good opening to school year; the Back-to-School picnic was a success. Many thanks to PTA volunteers. 6. Teacher Representative Reports K-2 - Not present 3-5 Mrs. Elliott Thanks to PTA volunteers; lunch duty is very much appreciated. 2011 Virginia PTA Proposed Legislative Program (PLP) - Traci Davis Legislative Action (LA) #1 read to general membership. Oral vote taken; all yeas, none opposed. VA PTA supports additional state funding for the implementation of any increased PE requirements in grades K-8 so that there is no compromise of art, music, technology or foreign language programs currently in place. Legislative Action (LA) #2 read to general membership. Oral vote taken; all yeas with the exception of two (2) opposed. 2

VA PTA reaffirms our position in support of legislation granting a local option in setting school calendars and school year start dates. Policy Statement (PS) #1 read to general membership. Oral vote taken; all yeas, none opposed. The Virginia PTA supports virtual and online schools designed to provide alternative learning opportunities for students in surrounding school districts insofar as those virtual schools do not divert funds or resources from localities. Virtual and online schools should comply with Virginias Standards of Accreditation. Local Unit Audit Report - Deborah Gholson Audit report presented. Motion by Andrea Jones to approve 2010-2011 PTA audit report; motion seconded and so approved. Treasurers Report - Dori Burger Proposed Budgeted Receipts and Expenses for the Year Ending 7/31/2012 reviewed. Motion by Karen Snidow to approve Budged Receipts and Expenses for the Year Ending 7/31/2012; motion seconded and so approved.
