Thank you to our Altar Servers, Michael Salgado, Anna Atwood
and Noah Quan, who served at this morning’s Mass. In addition,
thank you to our SBS children’s choir, our sixth grade gift
bearers, Emma Durkee and Landon St. Onge, and to our
readers, Devin Geoffrey, Keeley Fusco and Blake Bennett.
We had a excellent trip to Mercy on Thursday for the
Mercy/Xavier play “Game of Tiaras”. The students enjoyed the
comedy and satire.
Mr. Petruzzi, Mr. Gworek, Mrs. Kreager, Mrs. Carroll and Ms.
Seidl would like to give a warm welcome back to Mrs. Maier. We
are so lucky and thankful to have her here with us!
If any of Mrs. Maier’s students need extra help with assignments
before or after school please contact Ms. Seidl via email. She is
happy to help.

This week in science 8th grade has been
learning about the history of atom. In 7th
grade we continue to explore the cell
processes of diffusion and osmosis. In 6th
grade we continue to explore the causes of
of Earthquakes.
 Literature:
- 6th Graders will continue with our 8th grade: We have finished reading “The List” and
exploration of the early empires. We will will be starting our dystopian project next week
also focus on the Code of Hammurabi. 7th grade: Week 2 of Esperanza rising is complete.
- 7th Graders will continue the Next week we will be working on a mini project about
Renaissance, looking at some of the the characters.
Language Arts: Both 7th and 8th grade are working
famous philosophers, as well as famous hard on their Catholic Citizenship essays
works of art.
- 8th grade will continue its study of the IRPs are due Next Wednesday . Students will have
differences and tensions between the work day in class to finish up and ask any last minute
North and the South, leading up to the questions. These CAN NOT be accepted late and
stbe put on the report card. Students who do not
Civil War. submit it on time will get an Incomplete in literature
for the trimester.

My first few days in grade 6/7 have

. Grade 6:
Religion: The students are finishing Chapter 4 on the Book of Genesis, with a
focus on Cain and Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel. They have a test on
Tuesday.
Spanish: The students are studying adjectives to describe themselves and
others. They have a short vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.
Grade 7 Spanish: The students are finishing up their study of the verb jugar.
They have a quiz on Tuesday.
Grade 8 Spanish: The students are studying restaurant and descriptive
vocabulary, as well as possessive adjectives. They will have a quiz on
Wednesday on the vocabulary. The quiz on possessive adjectives will be on the
Tuesday following Thanksgiving break (11/28).
Mrs. Maier been great! Your children have been
kind, helpful, respectful and simply
delightful!
I wanted to share with you my thoughts for my time as a
long-term substitute teacher. Since the children are
familiar and comfortable with Mr. Pucci's teaching style, I
plan to continue with that same format. (With the help of
Ms. Seidl.) I might adjust a few things here and there, but
in general I will try my best to stay consistent. Keeping the
children's best interest in mind, I feel this is the best
approach. Hopefully this will work well for everyone.
Wednesday, November 22 students IRP (Independent
Reading Project) are due. All information is on Google
Classroom, and we have spent a great deal of class time

A note to 8th grade Parents:
Good morning parents,
Today the students have the entry form for the Knights of Columbus Catholic Citizenship Essay contest in their
mailboxes. We have been working on this essay in class and will be working on editing it to meet the length
requirement next week.
If the students would like to enter the contest for a cash prize, I need the form returned by Tuesday, November
21st. If the form is returned, I will print their essays and send them off to the Knights of Columbus for judging.
