As a Filipino Youth, I encounter my fellow youth today that shows
a renewed sense of pride in their mother tongue, and there is an increasing interest in using it in their daily conversations and to social media. This trend is visible in diverse regions worldwide, from Asia to Africa, where young people are becoming more comfortable with their native languages and breaking the stereotype that only speaking a dominant language is essential for success. It is natural for young people to value the language they grew up with, which is considered an inherent part of their identity. As the young generation gets exposed to globalization, they also become aware of the importance of cultural heritage and the unique value embedded in their mother tongue. This often leads to a more profound appreciation for the language and strengthens their desire to learn it. Moreover, social media platforms have allowed young people to connect with others who share the same language or cultural roots, creating an environment where they can express themselves authentically, which further promotes interest in native languages
