Role of Media in recent elections of GB, An analysis of PTI and PPP conflict promotion or
conflict resolution by media,

Media is playing a key role in depicting the reality and informing the society, it’s also a main
factor in resolution, increment and reduction of conflict. But the main hindrance in a way of
media to play it’s free and fair role is its agenda setting and corporate media. Mostly media is in
a race of ratings so, it forgets its foremost purpose of conveying the information to public
unbiased and objectively.

Conflict:-

Conflict is a state of disagreement between two parties or persons.

Conflict may have harmful effects on individuals and society. Even if conflict exists for long
time without resolution then states collapse. Such as the conflict of 1971 in East Pakistan
converted East Pakistan into Bangladesh and its worst effects are tackled by Pakistan in
economic sector also it damaged the harmony and affected the image of Pakistan among
international community. This all was done because media have not played its role effectively
and objectively. Media showed all okay stance of government on the issue.

Conflict also causes poverty in a state and development may stop because the entire budget is
utilized in the resolution of conflict and to fulfill all the harms done by conflict. This may leads
in the destruction of economy.

Role of Media in the 2020 elections of GB:-

Media has played a significant role in the recent elections of GB. At the initial level media is
used for the advertisement and for running the campaigns. All political parties propagate
themselves via the help of posters, radio, newspaper local and national TV and also by using
social sites. The local media especially local radios were calling all the candidates live for the
propagation of their motto and mandate. Such as during elections FM93 GB took sultan raees
live and let him to speak out his motto. Further the local media was keeping update the public
with total voters and then the votes being casted. A biggest blunder of media during the coverage
of the event is that they were announcing the unofficial results continuously either local media or
the national media. Which caused a conflict and people got angry because they got a sense of
ragging from the unofficial results and they started protest.

Media is in a race of ratings and sensationalizing the facts which leads to a chaos in a society.
Instead of this may media can promote the peace to resolve or reduce the conflict.

Analysis of PTI and PPP conflict after elections:-

After election PTI and PPP were in chaos because the media had depicted on the night of
election that in (Halqa no 2) Jameel ahmed is in lead from 600 votes and at the morning the
results are announced that Fatah ullah is leading from two votes. Because of which PPP protested
and blocked the roads and election commission recounted the votes. After two days of elections
again and again recounting held and at the Fatah-ullah is declared winner with more than
hundred votes. The matter is further flamed by the social media. Because everyone is a journalist
in social media without having a degree and they don’t care about media laws and ethics. Instead
of resolving the conflict media is increasing it by being an actor in the event.
