FAQs
How do pupils find out about the clubs on offer?
The Form Notices are read to the boys every morning; details for signing up for clubs will be advertised in these notices as and when they start and registration for each club begins. There is also a
notice board for clubs situated in the Junior School entrance by the staircase. All of this is explained to the boys during our activities assembly at the start of the year.
Unfortunately, signing up for clubs is not quite as simple as emailing your request; due to the way clubs and activities are organised, most clubs have different methods to register. Please see the
How to sign up column in the detailed schedule to find out how to register for individual clubs.
Some clubs can be signed up for by a parent (especially clubs with a fee), however most of the clubs require pupils to take the initiative to sign up and attend.
I want to register my son for a pupil-led registered club. Who should I email?
If you feel as though your son may not have the independence yet to manage this themselves, you can contact their form tutor who will encourage and remind them to register for a particular club.
It is important that the pupil shows interest and enthusiasm for participating in a particular club to ensure they are committed to attending.
Every pupil is different and has a different number of commitments during the school week; seeking the balance between work, rest and play can be difficult. The only constraints on the number of
clubs are time, availability, not overloading the pupil and allowing them adequate down-time, as many of the clubs take place during their lunch break.
Can my son do half a term with one club and half a term with another?
Unfortunately, many of the clubs require a term’s worth of commitment and will also mean that clubs are either under or over-subscribed for half a term. This may be facilitated under exceptional
circumstances after discussion with the relevant activity supervisors.
