Education 201

The reason I chose Education as my profession was because I realized that was the
main career path I wanted during my last 2 high school years. I wanted to be in the
educational field. I went back and forth between first grade or special education. It
inspired me to want to work with kids because I would help teachers in my last 2 years
of high school with students who had special education classes. It was very
challenging and rewarding helping these students learn a new skill or ability. It was
challenging because their learning was different from mine but they would learn in their
own way and it was rewarding seeing them succeed and be happy that they finally
learned it.

Education is very important to me because without education we have no

knowledge of the things we do in life. In my own personal knowledge, knowing that
everyone learns differently, I understand that there are a variety of several factors that
can be used to help individuals learn at a variety of learning levels. Having this
knowledge helps me understand and use these techniques and skills to help them
learn in every way possible. I have really great patience with students and I’m very
observant in their learning abilities. Students can feel very confident to ask me any
questions or ask for help if they happen to be confused or lost. I will always be glad to
help them understand or figure out their question.

In my personal experience during my teacher observation for a second grade

classroom. I have a better understanding that students will pay attention in class if you
have a great curriculum and make it fun for them. Make the lectures interesting and
give them props for their great work. The students will be into the lectures and willing
to learn more in class. The teacher Ms. Daniels was very straightforward but also made
her lectures very fun. Students in her class were always in a great mood and always
excited to answer the questions they were reviewing. Ms. Daniels is a really great
teacher, very well organized and really excellent at teaching her lectures.

As for my educational philosophy and psychological orientation I consider myself a

progressivism because I believe that education needs to focus on the student. The
students have an opportunity to engage in their learning and society by using utilities,
interest, experience and integration in their own personal experience. Teaching the
student how to think rather than relying on rote memorization (school of education).

I believe it is a better teaching philosophy for students learning. In many historical

events that will happen in the future I will always think how amazing it is to have taught
to many students in my teaching life helping them learn and grow into great adults that
will be successful in their future.

When teaching, my main strategies that will be implementing are hand on learning
because I know a lot of students learn better that way also having a great curriculum
that my students can understand and learn in fun ways that will keep them interested in
wanting to learn more everyday when they come to my classroom.

In order for me to succeed in this career path I need to have better knowledge in
building a great curriculum that will work for my students. Have a creative problem
solving backup solution that I will perhaps need during a situation. Time management
is very important to me and staying very well organized with my classroom lectures
and my students. I’m really great at multitasking so I know that will help me in my
teaching career path. Having great communication skills. If I had the opportunity to
start working as an assistant teacher I could start getting much more experience in my
teaching degree to succeed even better. I can have better results and get all the
experience that I need to achieve my teaching degree in the future. My main goal now
is getting all the education and experience that I need to be able to start my career as a
successful 1st grade teacher.
