Mushroom Chapstick Holder


Level: Easy, written in US terms

Materials
 Scrap amounts of worsted weight
yarn in colours of your choice
 Size G 4.00 mm crochet hook or size
needed to obtain gauge
 Tapestry needle
 Stitch marker

Gauge
4 sts = 1 inch; 5 rows = 1 inch

Notes
 The Mushroom Top and Bottom are worked in two separate pieces.
 The Mushroom Top and Bottom are each worked in continuous rounds; do
not join unless instructed to do so. Place marker in first st of round and
move up as work progresses.

Special Stitches
 Dec (decrease): [Insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop] twice, yo, draw
through all 3 loops on hook.
 Inc (increase): 2 sc in indicated st.
 French Knot:

Step 1: Draw the needle up through desired location.


Wrap yarn several times around pointy end of needle.

Step 2: Insert needle back into project, very close, but


not exactly into the same place. Slowly complete the
stitch. For larger eyes, add several French knots in the
same place.

Bottom, in colour of your choice
Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 9 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Place
stitch marker in first st. (9 sts)
Rnd 2: [Sc into next 2 sts, inc]. (12 sts)
Rnds 3-12: Sc into each st around. At end of last rnd, ch
150. Fasten off, leaving a 9-inch tail.

The Bottom ends with a

Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 6 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Place
stitch marker in first st. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: [Sc into next st, inc]. (9 sts)

Rnd 5: [Sc into next 4 sts, inc]. (18 sts)

Rnd 7: [Sc into next 6 sts, inc]. (24 sts)
Rnd 8: [Sc into next 7 sts, inc]. (27 sts). At end of last rnd,

Dots: With tapestry needle and yarn colour of your choice, sew several French
Knots (see Special Stitches) over Mushroom top randomly.

Assembly:
 Using tapestry needle and tail from ch of Mushroom Top, poke ch up
through Mushroom Top between Rnds 1, 2 as shown. Pull Ch through.
 Poke needle back into Mushroom Top between Rnds 1, 2, across from
initial poke. Pull ch back through. Insert needle into 6th st of Rnd 12 on
Mushroom Bottom. Fasten off and weave in tail.
