Knowing the power of words begets power to influence people, but striving for

transparency, equality and fairness in giving information is the true power to serve the
public.
To our distinguished members of the board of judges, friends, visitors, ladies and
gentlemen, goodafternoon.
I stand before you to speak on a social problem that I have observed in our society and how
I can address it with the career I will choose.
The media has been our sources in getting information whether in television, newspaper
and social media. They became our eye opener on what is happening all around the world
and the voice which speaks of the truth. However, we cannot deny that today, we cannot
completely trust and depend on media for many fake news and misinformation are
observed. Nowadays, many news articles printed, broadcast newsmedia and online media
are intentionally and verifiably false, and could mislead readers. More often, fake news are
written with the intent to mislead in order to damage other people or organization and gain
financially or politically.
This is alarming for it can damage the identity of a person, mislead the readers or viewers
and lessen their trust to media. We can usually observe this especially during campaigns and
political affairs where one defends a candidate or party. Instead of giving a fair and
transparent news, there is bias and tainting of other peoples image.
With this, I am inspired to become a journalist someday that I can be in help to the problem
today with regards to media. If I would become a journalist, I would use the power of
writing to positive way, to improve peoples lives through transparent, fair and unbiased
giving of information. I do believe that fake news can be prevented through responsible
journalism. With all my strength, I will ensure verification, accuracy and truthfullness that
can help counter fake news.
A journalist can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak
and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of
horror are still in the air. With the voice and hands I have, I would inspire the future and
fellow journalist to promote transparency and fairness in journalism in a way that the public
trust will not be wasted and succeeds the best deserve success-fears God and honors man.
I would like to live to the principle of journalism in speaking of the truth. My hands and
mouth will not be weavered by threats and pleading nor the offer of power and money. I
will speak and write unswayed by the appeal of the privilige or the clamor of the mob. With
all I can, I will be respectful to the voice of the people but always unafraid and sincerely
promoting international good will and cementing world comradeship of and for todays
world.
Ladies and gentlemen, journalism can control the mass media but best journalist recognize
their role as servants of the people. Journalism can help change the world through
responsible and accountable journalists. Journalism can change the world if it is used in
positive way. It is the eyes and ears of the people and I want to a part of it. Someday, I
would leave a wonderful legacy which is honesty and truthfullness for the shortest stroke of
a pen is longer than the sharpest memory. Once again, good afternoon.
