 Must always remember his different duties – to


God and Country, to other people and himself.
 A Scout is always a Scout at all times and in all
places.

SYMBOLISMS OF THE SCOUT BADGE

SYMBOLISMS:

 Three (3) Points of the Trefoil – Duty to God and Country,


Duty to Others and Duty to Self.

 Three (3) Stars – Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, also


represents the Foundation of Scout Citizenship – Faith, Truth
and Knowledge.
 Color Red – Courage, Bravery, Heroism and for the blood of
those who died for our Country.
 Color Blue – High political purposes and noble ideals.
 Color White – Peace and Purity.
 Eight (8) Rays of the Sun – First Eight (8) provinces that
fought Spanish rule; Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga,
Batangas, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Cavite and Laguna.
 Single Band of the Trefoil – World brotherhood.
 Scroll Below the trefoil – Like the mouth of a smiling Scout is
Cheerful and Scout Motto “Laging Handa”, is written in the
Scroll.
 Overhand Knots – Tied at the bottom of the scroll and
Represent Scout Slogan – Do a Good Turn Daily.
What is our Scout Uniform Means?

1. Signifies your membership to the world brotherhood of


the Scouting Movement – The Boy Scouts of the
Philippines and WOSM.

2. It proclaims you as a person of character with high and


noble Scouting Ideals which reflect our Scout Oath, our
Scout Law and the Senior Scout “Slogan” – Once a Scout,
always a Scout.

3. It stands for Preparedness for service to others, which


exemplifies our “Motto” – Laging Handa.

4. Symbolized democracy – breaking the barriers of poverty


and social standing.

5. Reflects the meaning of the great Outdoor Life.


When to wear the Scout Uniform?
The Scout Uniform must be worn with pride Honor,
Respect and distinction. The following must be observed by all;

The SENIOR SCOUTS:

1. In all Scouting activities such as Crew and Outfit meetings,


hiking and camping

2. Community involvement projects, jamboree, parades,


ceremony, etc.

3. At special religious service for Scouts.

4. During Scouting Month.

5. When prescribed for special Scouting Service.

6. On such occasion as maybe prescribed by the Local


Council, Region or the National Office of the BSP.
When to wear the Scout Uniform?
The Scout Uniform must be worn with pride Honor,
Respect and distinction. The following must be observed by all;

The OUTFIT ADVISOR:

1. In all Scouting activities of the Outfit.

2. In formal Council, Region or National Scouting affairs.

3. In special church service for Scouting.

4. In training courses, conferences, seminars, workshops and


other gatherings sponsored by the Scouting movement.

5. Whenever appearing before the public with uniformed


Boy Scouts.

The Type “A” uniform must be worn during formal Scouting


activities and other specified Scouting activities. The Type “B”
uniform should be worn during informal Scouting activities.
When not to wear the Scout Uniform?
1. When soliciting funds or engaged in any selling, marketing
or promotional campaign or in any commercial venture
not related to Scouting (This does not however, forbid
Scouts in uniform from selling tickets for Scouts benefits
shows, rallies and similar Scouting events).

2. When engaged in any endeavor/activities of a political


party.

3. When appearing professional on a stage, in motion


pictures or modeling without specific authority from NEB
of the BSP.

4. When taking part in parades, except for the purpose of


rendering service as a Scout/er or when representing
officially the BSP and ;

5. When one (1) ceases to be a Scout/er through failure or


register or leaves the Scout Movement for any other
reasons.

MEANING OF SCOUT SIGN

 The Three (3) fingers


pointing upward
represent the three (3)
duties of a Scout:
-Duty to God and
Country (middle
finger).
-Duty to Others
(ring finger).
-Duty to Self (first
finger).

 The thumb and little finger, separately, represent the Two


(2) Objectives of Scouting:
-Character Building
-Citizenship training

 Thumb and little finger joined together means World


Brotherhood.

SCOUT SALUTE

 Angle formed in executing


this is 45 degrees.

 The forefinger touches the


edge of your right
eyebrow.

 If you wear eyeglasses, it


touches the right edge of
your eyeglasses.

 If you are wearing a hat,


the forefinger touches the
brim of the hat.

USES OF SCOUT SALUTE

 When in uniform, used to show respect to the Philippine Flag and


the National Anthem.

 To show respect and courtesy for fellow scouts.


THE LEFT HANDSHAKE

SCOUT HANDSHAKE

 The handshake is done with the left hand, which is


nearest to the heart.

 It is used to recognize and great fellow Scouts.
