GUIDANCE IN ANTICIPATION OF POSSIBLE INCREASE IN

DENGUE CASES DURING THE RAINY SEASON AMIDST COVID_19

The recent data collected from the continuous monitoring of cases by the surveillance
SyStemS Placed by the D印arment of Heal血(DOH) shows that cunulative nunber of cases
repo鵬d for Dengue from January l, 2023 to May 13, 2023 was detemined at 48,109 cases
wi瓜176 deaths and O.4 Case Fatality Rate (CFR). This data shows 38% increase compared
to血e same period last year with 27,686 cases, 150 deaths and O.5 CFR.

While we are still facing the threat of COVID-19, all Centers for Health Development
(CHDs) and Ministry of Heal血- Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslin Mindanao
orOH-BARMM) are advised to implement the 5S Strategy Against Dengue, Chikungunya
and Zika, given the anticipation of the possible increase in Dengue cases during the rainy

In line wi他心is, We Would like to reiterate the制owing :

A. Continue血e advocacies and implementation of the 5S- Strategies.

l. S- Search and destroy breeding sites

2. S- Seek early consultation
3. S- Selfprotection
4. S- Say yes to fogging only in hotspot areas where increase in cases is registered
for two consecutive weeks
5・ S-Sustain hydration

B. Intensify vector survei11ance activities

l. Identify m勾Or breeding sites - SeaI℃h and destroy mむor breeding sites.

2. Monitor high-risk areas based on vector population u§ing Aedes Vector

Surveillance Indices such as Breteau Index (BI) and House血dex (HI),

3. Monitor fluctuations in the vector population, Which can serve as an early wammg
Of an impending outbreak.
4. Provide evidence for recormending prevention and control measures.
5. Assess血e impact ofvector control measures.

Likewise, ref訂to National Aedes-bome VIral Diseases Prevention and Control Program
