CASE REPORT

“Modern Day Heroes” is a great title tagged to all Overseas Filipino

Workers (OFW) around the world. They are heroes who left their
families and beloved country just to earn a better income to support
their family and loved ones.

She is Ma. Corazon B. Dinglasan, 33 years old. She is an OFW in Dubai

for 7 years. She moved to Dubai when she was 26 years old to search for
work to help her family. The pressure of family responsibility and peer
pressure is the most significant factors that drive Filipinos to work
abroad. Her father and mother are both deceased back in 2021 because
of covid-19. She has 8 siblings left here in the Philippines. She had many
encounters in order to be there in Dubai now. She is very grateful that
she is working there now and she is able to help her family here in the
Philippines. She is away from her family, which is not easy for her but,
when she thinks of them, it gives her strength to continue day-by-day.
She's blessed that she haven't encountered restrictions, so far. She is
staying there for a long time and/or will continue to stay there because,
she has a reason to. She encountered so many challenges, including
being fired at her work, she had to find another, which is hard for her.
She encountered, homesickness. And what was very hard for her, is
when her parents died. She's very grateful for her siblings because, they
are there to lift her up, and telling her that giving up was not in their
options

Overseas Filipino Workers sacrifice a lot to provide a better life for their
families in the Philippines. They spent holidays, birthdays, anniversaries,
Christmas, New Year and other important occasions away from their
families. No money can replace the hug of a father or mother, no toy or
balikbayan box can take the place of the quality time spent together
with ones family.
