1. Rationale
This issue is important and necessary to be discussed in the article because academic
reading and academic language use are important foundational skills that can help
students to develop their skills in reading and writing (Albashtawi, Jaganathan, &
Singh, 2016; Csomay & Prades, 2018). This issue is also intended in testing the
influence of Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach(CALLA) on English
learners.
2. Domain (Field)
The method used to solve the problem in this study is the mixed method (qualitative
and quantitative methods). The data of the implementation of CALLA in this article
were collected using the Academic Reading Test (ART). Then, the researchers did an
interviews in order to collect any information about the effectiveness of CALLA.
3. Gap/s
The previous studies have not investigated more about the use of CALLA in EFL,
while the use of CALLA in EFL requires furthermore investigation.
4. Focus
The focus of this study is to examine how CALLA affects the students’ reading ability
in Jordania as an EFL.
