On 5 March 2014, the Philippines joined 59 other
countries in the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement
which has the vision of a world free from malnutrition in
all its forms by 2030. It is a unique movement founded by
the principle that all people have a right to food and good
nutrition. It unites people from government, civil society,
the United Nations, donors, business and academe in a
collective effort to improve nutrition. In the Philippines,
the SUN networks for UN and CSOs were formed in 2016
and 2017, respectively. As early as February 2020, the
National Nutrition Council (NNC) is building the
foundations of the SUN networks for academe and
business sectors.
