Nursing Infographic

Texas A&M International University has plenty of programs and many helpful sources

for everything you might need help in any academic career or for students and employees’

personal lives. If someone struggles with some type of mental health disorder or abuse of any

kind Texas A&M International University more than likely has a form of helping them. The

Texas A&M International University Nursing building has an Informative Infographic on a

billboard on the 2nd floor that must deal with Sexual and Gender based violence. This infographic

was put up on the nursing building billboard in the fall semester of 2023 by Texas A&M

International University sexual and gender-based violence committee to remind students and

employees on several steps they could take if they become a victim of these acts. Information

that comes out in the infographic is very cramped with paragraphs that may feel overwhelming

to see but it has a couple pictures next to each paragraph hinting at what it is going to talk about.

The Title for this infographic poster is “What Students/Employees Need to Know” so

people can see and read it if suffering from these acts and have steps to follow on how to handle

it. This infographic follows a visual story so it informs the students and employees the steps to

follow and that’s one of the many reasons why its font sizes change throughout the infographic

and not only that it also has icons throughout the infographic to attract the readers eye and give

you a brief hint on the paragraphs and the different types of topics and gives a heads up on what

to expect while continuing to read . The TAMIU Student Counseling & Disability Services

which you can find on campus at STC 128, or the contact number is (956-326-2230) is especially

important for this infographic considering this one of the main places students and employees

will visit when going to class or have experienced these acts of violence. This infographic is

packed with emails and phone numbers to different agencies to help report or ask for help after

being affected by these violent actions. “TAMIU Student Counselling & Disability Services

(students only) (956) 326-2230, ZSC 138” -TAMIU sexual and gender-based violence

committee. Is one of many examples of how this infographic gives out information regarding the

options for the students and employees have facing these violent acts.

The first paragraph and the first step this infographic tells students and employees to take

after experiencing one of these acts of violence is to get to a safe place. It quotes “Report to any

police officer, in person, or by calling one of the numbers to the right.” And “Reporting to police

will not affect your ability to pursue resolution through the University process (see page below).”

– TAMIU Sexual and Gender Based Violence Committee this is one of several steps to follow in

the process of seeking help after these acts of violence and there are many others that will be

covered here. The second step is seeking medical attention and this infographic lets the reader

know that “Doctor’s Hospital is the only local hospital with SANE nurses who are specifically

trained to perform a forensic sexual assault examination. ASANE nurses can assess possible

physical trauma, sexually- transmitted disease and/or pregnancy.”-TAMIU Sexual and Gender

Based Violence Committee also lets students and employees know the addresses to local

hospitals and their phone numbers. The TAMIU Sexual and Gender Based Committee made this

infographic highly informative and told the students and employees different options for

contacting other agencies for extra help. With many steps of things to do after the violent act has

happened. And how to seek help at the university and how to contact support available through

Student Counseling and Disability service (ZSC 138) and not only at Texas A&M International

University but also in the Laredo Texas community there are plenty of resources available for

anyone no matter if a college student or a citizen of Laredo Texas when faced with challenges

like this. This infographic those an excellent job on specifying what section deals with what

since it bolds some of the key points in the paragraph. And giving the reader plenty of options for

different things like reporting and how to deal with the whole situation. This infographic also

explains the universities obligations and it states that “Once a report of a Title IX violation is

received, the university will conduct an initial assessment and take any immediate action that

may be necessary to protect the health and safety of individuals and the University community.”

This infographic is by Texas A&M international University Sexual and Gender based

violence committee and was immensely helpful and very neatly put together with little icons in

front of every paragraph so it could catch the readers eyes. It was also highly informative with all

the steps to follow if ever dealt with sexual or gender-based violence and remarkably interesting

to read and get information from it was organized in a way that will catch your eyes and who to

contact when faced with these challenges.
