About The Seminar Efficient transportation system plays a pivotal role in the development of a nation and is often used as an index of growth of the nation. The awareness about the recent developments in the field of transportation is the need of the hour. In this regard, SRUJAN 2011 aims to bring together professional engineers, academicians, research scholars & students in a common platform and have interactive brain storming sessions and thereby attempts to pave way to innovation blended with economy, quality and safety in the field of transportation engineering. It will cover various activities like paper presentation, cad modeling, card structures and model making. The Civil Engineering Department, IES, IPS Academy, Indore, would like to extend a hearty invitation to all to attend the seminar. About the Institute Institute of Engineering and Science, IPS Academy is one of the premiere institute in the Central India region, with more than 71 courses in 16 well developed colleges in the field of science and technology. It has 58 acres of huge lush green campus with all the facilities inside the campus area. The institute is located in Indore, which is the Industrial Capital of MP and is well connected by Road, Rail and Airways from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur etc. The institute is situated on NH-3 Mumbai-Agra Raod, Rajendra Nagar. Indore is a centre of commercial activities as well as has tourist attraction places like Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Mandav, etc. which are situated within 100 km radius from Indore. About the Department The oldest and most elegant branch of engineering profession is Civil Engineering due to the fact that is related to almost all aspects of civilization. The Department was established in 2004. The Department is fully equipped with modern facilities. The Department has grown tremendously over the years and is now recognized as one of the major engineering departments in the country. The department has developed strong links with the building and construction industry and academic and research, both within and outside the country. The Deptt. is equipped with more than 10 laboratories and computer centre for Research & Development, teaching, training & consultancy. A large number of publication appear in the National and international journals & proceedings and conferences every year.

Besides high quality teaching and instruction at both UG and PG levels, the Department is actively involved in basic and applied research and consultancy and provides high quality technical advisory support through various R&D projects and consultancy to various organizations.The Civil Engineering Department with its multifaceted faculty continues to

maintain and cultivate its strong links with the infrastructural industry and academic and research institutions both within and outside the country. Paper Presentation
Author (s) desirous of contributing papers covering one or more of the themes given below should send their full length

paper including abstract in hard and soft copy both limited to 8 A-4 sized pages,

with single line spacing, 12mm font size, Times New Roman, 25mm margin on all sides and 35 mm as left margin It should include title of paper, name of Author (s), contact address, phone, e-mail, the no. of authors range from 1-3. The sub themes are as follows : 1.Urban transportation system planning (ITS) 2.Geometric Design elements System 3.Network optimization 4.Alternate materials for flexible pavement transportation systems 5.GIS applications to transportation engineering 6.Advanced sensing technologies and NDT Cad- Modeling In this Auto-CAD modeling related to transportation engineering is to be done. Theme will be given on the spot & team size should be 1-2. Card Structure In this with the help of playing cards various kinds of structures related to the theme are to be made. Raw materials etc. are to be brought by the participants themselves. Theme will be given on the spot & team size should be 1-4. Model Making In this Creative models on bridges, tunnels, intersections, metro rail, BRTS, elevated corridor, highways or traffic controlling systems are invited. Only card-board, thermocol, ply-wood, clay or sand is to be used. The team size should be 1-4.
