1. Description
• DCP-Dynamic Cone Penetrometer used to test the compaction of the soil that has been worked on.
• DCP must be done at 4 points around newly installed manhole after reinstatement.
• Trench Soil-Soil that has been worked in for the installation of optic fibre duct system.
• Virgin Soil-Undisturbed soil that is used as a reference point next to the trench that been dug for optic fibre duct
system.
• Virgin Soil DCP test needs be done 0.5meters from Trench after reinstatement.
• 30m or less between Manholes only do 1-2 DCP test.
• Best practice, do 5 tests between 2 manholes on the route.
• Example: 780m between manholes
• 780/5=156meters between test
• Example: 800m between manholes
• 800/5=160meters between test
• During test especially on virgin soil measurement between test must not exceed 0,08m between two consecutive
readings.
• Please note during the test, the DCP with 5 consecutive strikes should not exceed 0.12m from the 1st blow to the 5th
blow.
• In the event consecutive readings fail then soil compaction in specific route needs to be re done.
