 The Origin of JDA
Not many know the story as to how JDA came
to be but it is said that the idea came to Dennis
Rice at a diner with a soon to be business
partner.
After graduating West Virginia University with
a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Doctor
of Dental Surgery, Rice moved to Northern
Virginia in 1980 to serve in the United States
Air Force Dental Core before moving into
private practice. It wasn’t until 1987 where Rice
transitioned his career of a dentist into a custom
home builder. Rice has accounted the story to
what got him into the world of custom home
building. He was at a diner with a friend of his
who was able to persuade Rice into thinking of a
career change. Rice wrote down the idea of what
would be the beginning of JDA on a napkin to
his business partner. The two men worked with
another for a few years until Rice decided to
expand as he is a man who demonstrates an
intense work ethic, determination, perseverance,
and a fierce ambition to succeed.
Fast forward a few years and JDA was founded
by Rice in 1992 and has been helping clients in
the Greater Northern Virginia Area build their
dream homes since. Rice is one of the most well
respected custom home builders in Northern
Virginia and his clients have nothing but great
things to say about him. “We worked through
the construction process with Dennis. Dennis
was approachable, accessible, and very fair...an
