(Muncie, September 9, 2020) –

What better way to spend your night than spending it living stress and money free? At
Ball State, we have a very interactive group of individuals who are named the Active Minds
Organization among our students and faculty at the university. Active Minds hosts many
different meetings and fun nights for those who join in. People in the Ball State community find
their ways here and enjoy heartfelt and engaging activities such as game nights, suicide
awareness nights, specific topic meetings and they even have a stress less event night.

The Stress Less Event night has many different outcomes on people after they experience
it. These events are sponsored by ROD, Active Minds as well as Psi Chi. The guests get to leave
with small incentives/prizes for free, as well as get to enjoy a sustainable and social environment.
Along with these perks, they engage in a variety of relaxing and stress free activities such as
watching movies and tv shows, coloring and painting, cathartic sensory experiences, meditating,
and more.

In some cases, Active Minds have their meetings and other nights in different areas
around campus, Stress Less night is held in the Dehority Complex at 1500 W Riverside Dr,
Muncie, IN This makes it an accessible and easy for all students and faculty to be able to attend.
There is 2 different time slots as well for when these nights are hosted one at 7 pm and one at 9
pm for those that have classes, work, etc. later in the day than others. Each session last about an
hour and a half to an hour and forty-five minutes usually giving plenty of time to clean up after.

We encourage any and all of Ball State’s community to join us. We strive to give each
individual a night where all the things outside of your mental health are able to be put to a pause
so you can take a step back. We hope to see new and reoccurring faces each time we meet, even
for our other events as well.
Active Minds at Ball State University is an officially recognized chapter of Active Minds, the
national student mental health awareness and advocacy group based in Washington, DC. Our
mission is to increase BSU students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and
resources regarding mental health and mental illness, and to encourage to seek help as soon as it
is needed. We also aim to strengthen the mechanisms for peer support, and serve as a liaison
between students and the mental health community. We serve as an additional and
complementary organization to the already-exiting Mental Health Initiative. By promoting
awareness and education, Active Minds at BSU aims to reduce stigma that surrounds mental
illness and create an open environment for discussion of mental health issues.
